See how everytime they tackle and the opponent falls down no one is screaming for a foul? That's the mark of a true defender because they know it's a clean foul. Also players back then were rock solid. They didn't cry after every contact.

When I played football I was a midfielder more often 10 but sometimes 8 or even winger but when I started to watch nesta + maldini performances something changed inside me. Defending became my thing. Now I’m older, I’m a dad and stopped playing in a team but I still have more passion for defending players than the others. For me players like nesta, maldini, desailly, hierro, campbell, thuram, cafu were my heroes they were beasts

What a pair of defenders, the best thing is that their sliding tackles are always clean and throwing the ball out and in most keeping it or even giving a pass to another teammate. If both are already legends of AC Milan, not to mention when in the italian team they formed the defensive back with Cannavaro and Costacurta, that is, a defensive wall impossible to break
