Living a Life of Should I (Good one)

Just to be clear. This video was never meant to be an insult to all the people doing what I did for 20 years (working a steady job). It's an honorable life that can be filled with joy. The core message is, "I had no idea that life was an open field instead of a railroad track. Now that I do I see it all around me."

Hey Woody. I currently work full time as well as studying business studies at UTS, Australia. I have been finding it very hard to be motivated to do what i love - my uni course (legit, no ball-sucking). This video could not have come at a better time - its Saturday evening, i have part of an assignment due soon and all day I've been experiencing and realizing things to get me back on track with my life - i hope to keep these things with me forever. From the bottom of my heart, Cheers Woody :) ty

Woody you are honestly amazing, helping people like this on you tube? How many people can do that, most you tube gamers insult people in games and "troll" but you, you help people with their problems and you take your time and you just ask it nicely.

I'm glad you took the opportunity to start you tube commentating, the videos you make keep me happy to see your making these people happy by answering there questions. I really appreciate at it! Keep up the good work. I have reached the word limit

Not yet. I'm sure it won't be until next week at the earliest.

I used to too. I'm still not perfect in social situations but ultimately I just forced myself to get out there and socialize with people and it slowly got better and better. That's what you need to do, even if it's really hard at first.

Your commentary quality has been really amazing and inspiring lately, I want to thank you for all the advice at a time in my life where it can have a positive impact on my future.

Woody thank you for this video. Right now I'm taking an entrepreneur class and we're making our own businesses to present in a competition and I wasn't really taking it seriously. Even though I'm only a freshman you've motivated me to be my own boss and actually open my own business in the future. Thank you.

Actually, that's a really interesting idea. I think there is a big group of people that aren't slackers, they're just a spring filled with potential energy ready to burst.

Thanks Woody. This has been a real eye-opener. I've though about what was said in this video and realized that if I stop slacking then the opprotuinities out there are ubiquitous. Thank you.

Wow, that commentary was really well done. I understood this already, and still felt like you opened my eyes to something.

You really opened my eyes and inspired me to change my life and even get a good job, a good life and a happy life... Thank you Woody, thank you a ton... And guys if you are lazy or can't be bothered to do something think of this... If you do what you do ( like being lazy and all ) think of your future. Is this going to help my future, my life and maybe, just maybe... You will live a fun and happy life :)

Woody your videos are so inspiring, I genuinely don't know what my life would be like if I hadn't found your videos!

Woody, i am in the exact position you are describing in this video. Ill be honest. I am not a self starter. My parents are always getting on me to do my homework, and the whole "if you have a project that's due soon, you shouldn't start it at the last second" kind of thing could not apply to me more perfectly. But, you did also mention that the "slacker" could have potential to become an individual that lives a life of should I. Thank You, Woody for helping me realize that I should change. :)

It's important that you enjoy what you have to do or enjoy the goal that you're reaching through that. Not wanting to do something isn't a reason for him to get a manager assigned, it's an incentive for him to find something he'll enjoy.

Woddy, thanks you are right and you have given me the motivation to, after 2 hours of constant and glorious procrastination, to get on my arse and study for my massive bio exam. It migt seem like a small thing but I am confident that I will internalize your motivation and use it to shape my work ethic. I don't want to be a "have to" person and I hope that this video will shape the first step of changing myself.
Thank you

Brilliant video Woody but I have to disagree with some points, I'm 21 and have worked in 3 different fields in 6 years and what I have learned is that there is no way to control the 'should I' factor in life, it's a 'PHASE' you can't control, like clouds, sometimes you get the shade and sometimes you get the sun. BUT what you do control is the 'YES, I can!' and the 'NO, I can't!' because that's down to mental strength. Control that and you succeed in life!

It will be interesting to see what the life cycle of a YouTuber is. I'm guessing it is similar to the life cycle of other types of entertainers. Musicians, actors, professional athletes & others who make their living by being creative. You gave some good advice, & I am glad that you told people that it is not for everyone, because that is true. Many entertainers make a very good living for a short period of time, but the majorority of us need a long term solution for how to live our lives.

Agreed. Many people who are slackers in school become grossly engaged in things that they find enjoyable, and only slack off in school because they see it as a "have to."

Woody, first you did a brilliant commentary, I really enjoyed it.
Second, can you talk about how slackers like me can change their personality to be a person who get things done like you? I've tried many times in the past, but I always give up, or keep postponing things I should do, it's really hard to change the lifestyle I am used to.
Keep up with the good work, your content is amazing. And sorry for my bad english, it's not my native language.

Im in a transitional phase of "have to" and "should I" known as "can I?". Got plans to be a "should I" person in roughly 5 years. In that time, I will have all my bills paid off with the exception of utilitys, and have the equipment necessary to persue a employment path of working for myself. Sound like an amazing life. I will be 35 in 5 years. Leaves me plenty of time to enjoy life.
