Here's a snippet from part 4 of my video series on Lisa Feldman Barrett's "How Emotions Are Made," which does a lot to show how a lot of what we think about emotions is wrong, based on some bad science.

In Part 4, over on my channel @SimonsBookClub, I talk about some of the problems with emotions that emerge from imbalanced Body Budgets, and these are important challenges worth discussing. Check out the video here:

In Part 3, I talked about the function of the brain, and how it regulates your Body Budget, and how that Body Budget directly impacts your emotions. This is stuff worth knowing. Check it out:

it's tough working in the medical field and being blamed for not having thick skin..having doctors or other staff members make fun of you for "overreacting" to being yelled at..it's hard to suppress these kind of emotions but at work you may be seen as overly dramatic. i used to cry to myself whether it was in a restroom or supply room closet..i am glad that i'm no longer in such toxic work environment

Definitely. Sometimes it is hard to figure out what is happening in your body. Plus sometimes we have secondary emotions.. we are angry when in reality we are sad. Or sometimes your body does stuff and that is not caused by an emotion but hormones for example. And then listening to your body is a lot of voices all talking at the same time.
