Thanks for your work. This is how I've always seen my emotions and harmonises very well with my buddhist practice — the idea that we condition our brains to experience emotions and thought patterns which in turn generate our experience of reality and that ultimately, we have control over these processes and can end the patterns of suffering . Love that there's finally a scientific grounding for this theory.

I appreciate that movies like inside out are trying to make kids and adults more aware of emotions. But, it’s king of crazy how popular and mainstream Ekman’s theory has become. It’s making it harder to critically review the classical model.

These videos are a great added resource to your book. Trying to get others to see the truth in your evidence has been tricky for me as well. I mean, it is convincing if people have the time, patience, and skills to get through the information. The Classical View of Emotions, which promotes Master/Slave relationships over Cooperative relationships, is the status quo and what I firmly discovered is the root of almost all of our problems. What you are doing is softening the beach for a revolution; it takes courage and energy to say what is the truth when the world has been taught otherwise. The math will come soon to support your model. Thank you and keep up the good fight.

I've read almost 20 of these pop neuroscience books and hers are truly great. This one along with 7 lessons are up in the top 5 along with Behave by Sopalsky and Ramachandran's books. When you read a lot of these you notice they can kinda be thought of in 2 categories: those that recite old information that may be, and is likely outdated, and those that are on the edge of modern understanding. Hers are those on the edge.

I liked the resemblance of the sun. I understood your theory, but just this little sentence made the understanding even deeper 😊

Classic view of emotion. Circuits that "trigger"

What about the segmentation of brain into reptilian, limbic and frontal brain? That view is very much in existence today, even being taught in various online platforms.

This is a great series of videos. I’ve been learning a lot the last couple years from Dr. Feldman Barrett.
Here’s the but: who did you hire to make these videos and to use this lame annoying corporate training music throughout?

Why do you call it the “classical view” of emotions? “Classical” would suggest that it has a long history and is, or was, widely held. The idea of a neuron, or of brain circuits, itself is rather new. And many people are unfamiliar or only vaguely familiar with what a neuron is yet everyone knows, at least in an everyday sense, what fear is. Maybe some people do believe this “classical” view, but I don’t think its widespread as I don’t know of anyone who does. “People believe this because that’s how emotions feel.” But who says their motions feel like neurons firing or switched on brain circuits? That’s just weird.

Luckily neuroscience is an evolving field and the views in this video are not widely accepted amongst professionals, if at all.

Everyone fears new things, Im entertained by it.

Umm well I think cartoon characters is a poor example of comparing emotions. Physiological changes in the brain are observations that are measured . The question is what are they and what do they do? Breaking down to it's simplest form is where you can make the connection. It's very simple.
