Any people that threaten officials for doing their job, should be arrested!

Until all moneyed interests are removed from politics, this will be our reality. At least until this current system collapses.

As long as State legislatures, instead of independent State commissions, decide electoral districts, this problem will continue and worsen.

Sad, but true report. Our country is indeed in peril.

How about just bringing back the death penalty for insurrectionists? Maybe that would deter these threats? We're too soft & they know it. Our country is worth saving & playing games with violent criminals is causing this.

I don’t recall Romney appearing to the public so rattled.

You can thank Trump & Fox news for the strain on our democracy

How do states strengthen democracy laws when most state legislatures are controlled by Republicans? ... and they're controlled by GOP because GOP has gerrymandered the voting districts so that even when the state is equally divided between both parties, GOP has huge advantage in seats (see: Ohio, Wisconsin, etc.)

We can all see where this is heading, and it's terrifying.

These people are absolutely nuts! It's as if, because they didn't like a romantic-comedy book that they had just read, they decide the librarian must be fired. It's the librarian's job to make the library run smoothly and efficiently. The same can be said about the people we trust with our election processing. They don't influence the results, just report them.

Less well known is the paradox of tolerance: Unlimited tolerance must lead to the disappearance of tolerance. If we extend unlimited tolerance even to those who are intolerant, if we are not prepared to defend a tolerant society against the onslaught of the intolerant, then the tolerant will be destroyed, and tolerance with them. — In this formulation, I do not imply, for instance, that we should always suppress the utterance of intolerant philosophies; as long as we can counter them by rational argument and keep them in check by public opinion, suppression would certainly be unwise. But we should claim the right to suppress them if necessary even by force; for it may easily turn out that they are not prepared to meet us on the level of rational argument, but begin by denouncing all argument; they may forbid their followers to listen to rational argument, because it is deceptive, and teach them to answer arguments by the use of their fists or pistols. We should therefore claim, in the name of tolerance, the right not to tolerate the intolerant. We should claim that any movement preaching intolerance places itself outside the law, and we should consider incitement to intolerance and persecution as criminal, in the same way as we should consider incitement to murder, or to kidnapping, or to the revival of the slave trade, as criminal.”

“The actions of government, we are told, bear down only on imprudent souls who provoke them. The man who resigns himself and keeps silent is always safe. Reassured by this worthless and specious argument, we do not protest against the oppressors. Instead we find fault with the victims. Nobody knows how to be brave even prudentially. Everyone stays silent, keeping his head low in the self-deceiving hope of disarming the powers that be with his silence. People give despotism free access, flattering themselves that they will be treated with consideration. Eyes to the ground, each person walks in silence along the narrow path, leading him safely to the tomb.”
― Benjamin Constant, Principles of Politics Applicable to All Governments..

I would feel a lot more trust if people in both parties would come forward when the issue occurs. Mit's info is extremely interesting but why did he wait? If party line is this rigid, we are not assured we are being advocated for in fact it simply underlined that power is the goal not service.

It really does take an expert to come to that conclusion. It’s a make or break at this point.
