This actually happened to me! I had a family member managing things and then they stopped doing that, so I just had money sitting there with nothing happening to it. Luckily, I now have someone else helping me. Grateful to have knowledgeable people helping, but the robo advisor recommendation is what I would do if I didn't.

That is exactly me. I have been "investing" in Roth and traditional IRAs for a decade now without buying anything. At least, our 401K has been invested in different places ever since. Thank you for this important info. I will sit in the office today and talk to my NFCU representative.

I basically did that for a year. I open a Roth IRA and deposited $2000. And a year later I realized I never actually bought anything and it was just sitting in my account.😢😅

This is so bizarre to me. I don't think this is possible in the UK. Here when you open an investment account, you choose your risk level from the beginning and it's auto invested from the get go. So weird to have the possibility of opening account but the money not being invested. No wonder people get caught out.
