Hey, this guy ain't wrong. I have a 40 gallon tank and in that tank I have 6 Corridor catfish, 8 tiger barbs, four nerite snails, and a rubber lip pleco. Absolutely no issues at all. The tiger barbs do like it nip at the corrys but once I added the firemouth I didn't see that issue any more. If this was helpful to you then please like this comment so others will see it.

Hi Ty. I just purchased a firemouth for my community american tank. It’s currently in qt for a few days and all it’s doing is hiding. is this what i should expect? what can i do? should i get another one? man a timid fish in my american tank is no bueno

New subscriber. Could you keep them in singles with other single cichlids? Like a 75 gal. tank with a single Angel, Blue Acara, Firemouth Cichlid, Severum? Or are you saying just 1 cichlid period? Thanks.

diamond tetras are another good choice! i have a school of 11 in my 75. They are big and sparkly so they don't get outshined by the flashy cichlids and show up great on a black background like the sparkly cichlids do... and you're not awkward!

I’m thinking about getting a pair to put in my tank. They won’t get a chance to breed because I have a walking catfish so as soon as eggs are laid boom gone

I am currently keeping a male thorichthys maculipinnis, which is from the same genus as the firemouth, with a blue gourami female, a paradise fish male, a betta female, an ancistrus female, 4 corydoras, an apple snail. Also everyone says swordtails are perfect thorichthys companions. My thorichthys chases the gourami, but he doesn't actually hurt her and leaves all the other fish alone.

I got a firemouth, put him with a african cichlid and that didn't work. i have a 55 gal. with a catfish and 2 gourami, bigger, .. can i put the firemouth in there. oh also had a convic with the firemouth in a 10 gal.. that didn't work. firemouth agreesive. please help.

I had a firemouth cichlid for about 6 months healthy but this morning found him struggling to swim and he died. Added a pleco about a week ago found him dead idk if that affected my firemouth health water parameters are fine my red eye tetra look fine

IF YOU ARE NOT CAREFUL THEY DIE ...JUST CHANGE 20 PER CENT OF YOUR WATER AT A TIME DONT GO NUTS WITH WATER CHANGES I DOESNT HAVE TO LOOK CRYSTAL CLEAR ALL THE TIME ...DONT MESS WITH THE WATER TOO MUCH JUST WORRY ABOUT GOOD FILTRATION. ..IM a 6 year FISH KEEPER AND LEARNED A LOT.
