Many people believe that the only way to identify giftedness is by calculating IQ test scores. This is not the case. Giftedness isn't about how much you know ... it's about how your mind works differently than everyone else's. These ten behaviors illustrate some of the unique ways the gifted brain works. How many do you have?

It's like a gifted brain has a need to be active. Boredom is a major issue.

The first person to mention not listening to music while focusing!! I always thought I might be sharing ADHD with being gifted (2e) but when I saw how all ADHDs agreed on how music helps them focus, I got confused?! Music hypnotizes me or annoys me.

Was anyone else here put through slow reader classes in grade school? School failed me in many ways. Thank God for the Internet. I stopped reading dictionaries and encyclopedias like I did in school. 😊

I only had your video at 1.25 lol. You’re succinct and not a slow talk-er. I agree with most of these, though I’d prefer silence when I’m reading just like I turn down music to see a street sign. In fact, television is my main nemesis. Oh, and that boyfriend controlling the remote, never muting commercials and if I leave the room, he comes in to interrupt my deep thinking. We need boundaries! I’d add “love of novelty” to the list. I love to try new routes, hidden secret escapes and boy, do I make an interesting cook. The boyfriend keeps his foods from touching each other and always wants to go on vacation to the same exact cabin. Cmon!!!😅

A friend of mine has been trying to tell me that I'm Gifted for months and I have been telling her she's crazy... not feeling like she's so crazy now. Nine of these points were 100% accurate to my life.

My shrink recently told me that she thinks a lot of what I consider characteristics of my ADHD might be more related to my 'giftedness'. I asked her how she could tell the difference and she laughed. A lot of the characteristics explained here are also used as flags for ADHD and/or autism.

I think for #10 it may also count to bask in the enjoyment of others' brainy solutions. When I try a new tool or technique, and it works, I can say, "This is BRILLIANT!! OUTSTANDING! Who did this? I wanna shake their hand!" For example, I love using those vacuum suction storage bags, where everything shrinks way down... I always feel a sense of satisfaction, like, "A-ha! I win! Take that, carry-on baggage rules!"

I relate to almost every sign, but when I hear someone speaking I cant focus on reading at all haha. It needs to be perfectly silent in order for me to concentrate on reading or to fall asleep for example.

Thanks for the info from another gifted, high sensitive and multipotentialite soul!

9/10 in my case in this video! haha!
And also, the more I learn about myself and giftedness the more I realise that my partner is also ND (although he hasn't been evaluated and he doesn't want either, but it's fine).

FUN FACT: I would like to tell you something very interesting; when I'm imagining myself in a calm and peaceful place, always come into my mind a specific vision/place, but I don't know exactly where it is. The point is that, I started following you some months ago, when I discovered I'm neurodivergent to create community, learn info about ND... AND what I have realised TODAY watching this video is that, the place I picture myself is YOUR picture of the lake and mountains in every video or your profile pic on IG! hahahaha! Synchronicity and I love it!

Greetings!

Recently stumbled on your channel… I’ve always just thought i think about things backwards, fast, and that I hyperfixate… after listening to a few of your videos I think I might be gifted…. The music thing gets me. Ever since having kids I stopped listening to music completely… in the house it’s just too much stimulation and in the car I just can’t focus.

it's videos like these that make everyone believe they're gifted

Number I have seriously talked to my wife about having a cabin or separate little work room detached from our house for this reason.

6:43 it’s absolutely comical my inability to pay attention to someone talking while I’m playing a video game. People say I become a completely different person when I’m gaming and it shocks them how deeply and intensely focused I become, haha

I'm pretty sure turning off the radio when you're lost in the car is a part of the shared human experience. I wouldn't be surprised if the cavemen that left Africa asked the birds to kindly shut the fuck up while they figured out how to get home.

I resonate with all this, but I still always ask why and how. I must be wrong, but I have a strong feeling. I am highly gifted; it makes sense while simultaneously not making sense. Most likely, my environment and all the people around me seem normal to me, so it was a pattern I subconsciously recognized as a very young age, but on a similar note, ask why I would be so special even with all the evidence I have witnessed in my own life experience. I also don't understand how I understand complex topics with no real education at all since I've always been suspended, skipped school, or had any experience and am able to come up with things I've discovered alone and soon realize they have been discovered. I should be the dumbest person, but not somehow, or at least I think 😂
At school, I was superior to everyone around me; I enjoyed fighting and was able to win, or I simply understood how to fight to a degree; everything was simply easy. At school, I just didn't want to do the work, so I just didn't. I wanted to just play video games or explore things on my own rather than be told what to do, and no one actually explained why it's important; they just told us we must do the work, and basically to the teachers and everyone, fuck you. I felt like an adult trapped in a child's body. I always found it odd how I was always teaching everyone how to do things like gaming, sports, etc. while no one was teaching me 😅

Sounds like we’re all gifted!

And yes, I would like fries with that.

What about being able to learn the pattern or formula for books and TV shows. I have a really hard time watching TV or reading books from the same author (think Dan Brown) because I pick up on the pattern of how things will develop. Don’t get me started on Madam Secretary! I wanted to love that show but the pattern was too obvious.

It is hard because nobody wants to listen to you and you have to watch them struggle with stupid ideas.
