I love (nearly) impossible special research 😍 I’m trying to reach level 50 without spending money on coins, but I’m buying all tickets, they’re so much fun. And they don’t cost much compared to (also) purchasing coins. Great video, but you forgot to mention the remote raids. Powered up legendaries are behind a paywall. With the improved in person raids it’s a bit less so, if you’re able to raid in person it’s much cheaper to max out a legendary now, but it’s hard to do in just one week I guess. And it’s definitely not cheap! Since I can’t buy many extra raid passes without purchasing coins raiding will never be a big part of my game strategy. Fortunately there is so much more to the game. 😀👍

Hoopa also fits into the category to a degree. Only available in the elite raids, so XL candies are pretty much only available by getting rare XL candies which can only be obtained as a raid reward. that's a lot of raid passes bought to remotely have a chance to level it up amongst the other shit that is super hard to walk for candy or invest the rare kinds.

I like that you actually add it up and tell us. I always imagined you guys spent insane amounts getting like 100 dollars of coins to make the videos more entertaining. I remember my cousin asked how much I spent after like 2 or 3yrs, and I realized it was all google play receipts and I could add it up, and it was like 5k which was allot for me, haha

The Shiny Jirachi research has been my life for the past three months, and I'm so glad that I'm just 250 Pokemon away from finally having it! Definitely the longest, most intense and most annoying shiny hunt of my life.

I’ve only spent $10 on it. Did it for the primal event of Groudon and kyogre. Had a blast doing this with a friend for the day. Didn’t get shinys but my friend did. Just the fun of hanging out was well worth it. Going to a movie would’ve been much more expensive and short lived.

This is why Niantic won’t ever change anything, there’s not a single person (myself included) that at some point won’t say “I can’t miss out on that one” and they’ll pay the money because what’s $5 or $10 right? Sad but true.

Ever since they nerfed remote raids I haven't spent a dime. Niantic devs literally gave us the middle finger in the interview. I hope a new developer takes over the game soon

Goldengo is in my collection, and I am glad it motivated me to buy Scarlet & Violet. They were greatly improved games from previous switch pokemon games. As far as the time to accumulate enough gold coins, it really is easy if you concentrate on golden lure modules on pokestops every 5 days, times 3. I have several 3 cluster stops in my neighborhood, and access to other PGO accounts. It still took me 6 weeks to get 999 coins, but well worth it. In Scarlet he is a beast, but not so much in PGO, but I still love him anyway.

Challenge idea: you have to get a shadow shiny mewtwo from a raid or else you have to use your master ball on like a pidgey 😂

the step on giratchi reseatch where you need to find kecleon is annoying specificly because this season(and current event) is boosting team rocket spawn and that reduses the spots it can spawn on. surely if you drive around endlessly for many hour you will find them but it is sutch a wierd counter event thing. hopefully next season will bring some good bonuses like the +1 candy and 1xl candy for trades :D

I would say that Gimmighoul is even more exclusive than Meltan ever was.
I mean yeah both require (or in the case of Meltan did require) you to get Switch and at the time most recent Pokémon game on the Switch.
But i have not heard any mention that Pokémon let's go and any phone model have had any issues with connecting to each other.
Heck i can boot up let's go Pikachu right now and refresh my Meltan box through that if I so want to.

But not even factory reset and then only installing Pokémon go and not connecting any other Bluetooth devices (heck i even turned all of those off in my apartment)
Yet i have not been able to connect my Xperia 5 iv phone and Pokémon Violet together even once.
So in addition to have to buy Switch and Pokémon Scarlet or Violet, you also have to buy specific phone model as well.
And as there is no mention from Niantic which models work with this feature, you either have to go with the easy route and get the latest iPhone (and to someone like me it would mean to carry an actual smartphone and iPhone just for Pokémon Go)
Or you could just go wild and start buying phone after phone and try it out and hope that you get one that works before you hit 10K on those things.

But hey! Nobody said anything about getting to be "the very best like no one ever was" was going to be cheap.

Part of me kinda regrets not getting the shiny Jirachi research even if the tasks would take me until I die to complete but Jirachi was my favorite Pokémon when I caught it, but now my fav is Shaymin. I’m hoping for a special research for getting its shiny form. I’d love that.

I've spent 99p in the first year and have been playing since day one in the UK. Thankfully others fill Niantics pockets to keep it going. I only need regional pokemon but that's not happening anytime soon with 2 young kids lol

Everyone seems really surprised to see a Gholdengo in game, as they all find it so hard to get. However despite me generally not being one to get anything particularly special, let alone be the first to it, I didn't find this too hard. it is slow and tedious unless you team up with others for these golden lures. I know several people who would agree to all save the golden lure to use on a specific moment together so they all could get enough coins in about an hour time. There are also plenty of people who multi-account the game and can use multiple of the lures rapidly because of that. And even if you have nothing like that, all it takes is just one other player to team up with to clear this twice as fast. I don't have some large, dedicated community around, but simply co-opping these lures with my boyfriend allowed me to finish it quite fast.
Now that shiny Jirachi on the other hand... On the one hand a shiny mythical of all things should by no means be easy to obtain, but on the other hand it feels like... If I am already spending money just for this pixelated monster, I shouldn't on top of that have to be jumping through hoops to get it. Still stuck on the step where I have to find Kecleon, which hardly ever appears at all. I can spend an entire afternoon walking around a city claiming stops left and right, and most of the time I'll have 0 progress on that task, at best, 1 progress. Takes the joy out of getting that Jirachi as the initial hype is long forgotten, and you are just stuck on something all this time. I'd rather have seen some tasks that were challenging and intense, but could reasonably be completed within a few days to weeks.
