just because it is shaped like a tele does not make it a tele or a replacement for one. a true tele has single coils and more importantly an "ashtray" bridge. that is what makes the unmistakable tele sound...

I recently got the PRS McCarty 594 double cut. Exceptional guitar! The bridge pickup sounds fantastic. Clear and crunchy with distortion. The price is also amazing at $799 on sale. It gets you about 90% of what the core model is for a fraction of the price.

I played one of these for five minutes at a friend's house, and thought it was a better guitar than more expensive PRS models I'd tried. Neck on the thing is killer!

I have a mccarty i picked up used from guitar center mint condition for $550 threw in some pearly gates pickups and cts pots, its a favorite of mine now to play

Everyone has a favorite.
I own a 1991 PRS Custom 24 with a Tune-O-Matic style bridge.
A 1982 Les Paul Custom & a 1993 Jackson Soloist USA.
I don’t buy bolt on neck guitars. I’ve owned a few Fenders and several others…but now 40+ years later, it’s down to these 3.

I got the same guitar but double cut. It is my favorite guitar I own, and it is my working guitar. Sounds great in a live mix.

I have both this one (in the blue) and a doublecut right next to it - I've never really been able to gel with the singlecut, but the DC is absolutely the go-to guitar I pick up when I want to play. Part of that is just because of the DC being about 400g lighter than the SC.

I would like to add a PRS to my small-but-solid guitar stable. However, I want an older model before the bird inlays on the fretboard began.
I have never liked those bird inlays.
Never will.
