PRS FINALLY DID IT RIGHT...

Guitars of the Day! Taking a look at a long-overdue update to PRS' S2 line. S2 is PRS' line of attainably-priced versions of their American guitars... and now they finally also have the same proper American electronics and nitro finishes found on the $5000 Core models (instead of the import electronics and poly finishes found on SEs that they'd had in the past).

The cores are what they are. They are super excellent instruments.
I’ve played SE’s. I have the standard 24. Plays nice. Was thinking S2. But when I play a core instrument, WOW! The woods are different, the hardware, the electronics, ect. The difference in sound and sustain!!! A used non- name violin and a Stradivarius is the comparison I make in this case.

The real allure is the carved top of the core models. That's where it goes from a block of wood to a finely crafted piece of art.

I'm not a huge PRS fan but that aqua-teal flame top with the light wood sides from the thumbnail is one of the most gorgeous guitars I have seen. I don't care for the body shape, but the aesthetic of the completed instrument makes up for it. It just looks like such a relaxing vibe

Hell yeah! This is huge for PRS. my only gripe is them waiting to do it after I got my S2 but love to see guitar makers actually favor quality with their cheaper lineups

My 2021 s2 has the perfect feel and playability… the pickups for me is not an issue.

They’re all beautiful but the S2 Vela in that cream white has been on my list for years

Original factory had such a nice heel. Since the mid 90s they switched to ten foot heels. I miss my '91 standard so much....

It would be cool to see a revamp of the SE Santana Series. Specifically more finish options other than yellow as well as tweaking it to make it look like the American made version?

I know they did that a while back with the 22 fret versions, but strangly, the only option thats been constitantly offered has always been yellow. I dont know if they might for it, but a man can dream🤷‍♂️

At this point, maybe the only difference between the Core and S2 lines is the wood and the carve. The cores look nice, and I have a few, but for the price, I'll try an S2 when I have the chance.
