Moment missing 5-year old girl with autism is rescued from swamp

In a heartwarming turn of events, deputies from the Hillsborough County Sheriff’s Office successfully located a missing 5-year-old with autism.

Authorities received a call reporting a missing child who had wandered away from her home on Windbrush Drive in Tampa.

The child was eventually spotted near a body of water in a nearby wooded area. Ground deputies were promptly directed to her location and safely recovered her without any injuries

This moved me to tears as I watched the rescue. I have an autistic granddaughter, now sixteen, that looked very much like this little girl at that age. It might be all in a days work for these fine folks that did the rescue, but they are nothing less than true heroes.
