If they don’t read you your rights then the case can be thrown out only when you are arrested then they have to read you your rights if you are not under arrest then say can I leave

I have had an officer ask while incarcerated, to i wish to waiver my rights, at the time i didn't know what the word waiver meet in law terms, I later on found that gave them the to question me without a lawyer present.

On TV shows when they read someone Miranda rights they always end it with "do you understand these rights?". What happens if you say "no, I don't understand"?

Two comments: Detention is also a form of custody and police must state the Miranda Rights. There is never a true casual or consensual conversation with the police when an investigation is underway. Talking about the weather or sports is OK but for other topics REMAIN SILENT.
