Is your sunroof leaking? Mine does all the time and found this to be the easiest way for me to clear the drain lines. My truck is a 2006 Chevy 1500 crew cab. I’m sure there is other years and even other cars that use this same type of water tray design that’s horrible if you have lots of trees that love to drop leaves as my yard does. Hope this video helps pls subscribe and like for more how to videos. #sunroofdrain #chevysunroofleak #chevysunroof

Fantastic video, and your a very creative guy. Wonder if you could give me some
advice and answer a couple questions ? 1) why would the water get into the drain
trough when sunroof is "closed"? would it be from the rubber O ring drying up ? that
seals off the upper outer edge of the sunroof ? If yes, ( likely) do you think that
rubbing on some AT 205 - which expands and swells rubber, would this solve the
water from getting in to begin with ? Maybe it would, what do you think ?
Question 2 - If I never have my sunroof open, but would just like to use it as more
or less a window, do you think that putting on FLEX SEAL, or a high quality silicone
around the total upper surface edge of the sunroof window, would stop this water
from getting in to begin with ?? If I could stop the water from getting in, to start
with, then I'd be very happy just using it as a window to brighten up the inside ?
I don't think I have the skill to do what you did.
I have a OLDS - 2001 Aurora, that never leaked at all, until about 6 months ago
and the last time I had the sunroof open to the air was about 4 years ago. Now
I know why the inside slider that covers the sunroof window, now has the cloth
starting to hang loose, so it looks like water has attacked the adhesive or whatever
fastens it to the slider board, that slides forward and covers the sunroof window.

Also I had quit bit of water on the "interior" passenger floorboard, and it's likely
coming from the drain tube as you describe that drains under the quarter panel.
Maybe I'll get "LUCKY" and you'll answer my questions :) The way I see it, if I
never open the Sunroof, why not just put on a good sealer, all around the outer
circumfrance of where the sunroof glass buts up to the thin rubber O Ring
piece that surrounds the "upper surface" of the sunroof window ? The way I'm
thinking, is no water is good, so why not prevent it from getting in, because if
you don't, it will eventually ruin your interior overhead liner, and cause it to sag
down, and you'd have to replace it. Had this happen before. What do you think ?
Love to get a reply from you, as you look very skilled, and great video (in Canada)

Thank you very much for this video. I’ve heard about this but needed to see it done and I really appreciate it.. I had the headliner replaced and now it’s happened again now that I know how to take care of it and maintain it. Hopefully this issue won’t be a problem moving forward. Thank you for being slow and calm explaining everything you were doing.

I have an 03' Z71 Tahoe that has had water in the driver's floor board every time it rains hard. the windshield was replaced last summer and the shop that did it couldn't see any place it would have come in from the windshield not being sealed right. Tomorrow, now that the rain has stopped, I am going to use this technique to see if my drains are clogged. Thanks for the video. I'll come back and let you know what I ended up with. Maybe I 'll have a dry carpet again. It has gotten so bad it has that not quite rotten smell to it so the carpet cleaner will be coming out.

Sorry, but this is not the solution. The first thing is to discover why the water passes to the interior channel of the roof window, if it is closed. And how to repair this. Furthermore, those small water drainage holes, during a heavy rain, are not enough to drain the water that passes into the gutter with the roof windows closed. My question is, how to fix the glass seal so that water does not pass through when the roof window is closed. Nobody says. Why would it be?
