"Distant language" was the best way to describe the things he was saying. He was removing himself from the issue. 😂😂😂

John is right on. Things don't cause problems. YOU cause problems. YOU need to fix them. YOU need to control your spending.

When finances change it’s time to adjust your budget as much as you can to get through the tough time. Generally there are things that require sacrifice (like cutting cable tv out, eating at home, no fancy coffee shops, leave your credit cards at home…. It takes a willing heart to do it.

Agreed. I was talking with my husband about something similar .. about taking accountability of our own finances and being responsible for how we spend … the rent price can be xyz but how are we spending money on things that are unimportant… that’s the thing … we have owned up to our spending and are in a much better place financially because it

There was a time I worked 3 part time jobs to get ahead. And my husband who worked a full time job also took on a part time job. Which allowed for him to then go back to college and get his masters degree. We never blamed our mortgage or taxes. But we did do the whole “rice and beans” thing long before Dave Ramsey was a thing. Lol 😮😂

So weird as en european to hear "2 jobs 3 jobs". I mean....people are not supposed to work like slaves so they can afford to sleep indoors. Of course one must control one's spendings. But the struggle...and all these surreal student loans....

As someone who lives in California. When I hear couples complain about rent that’s $1700 when together they make three times as much as me it blows my mind. y’all are LUCKY

I agree rent is out of control! It has gone astronomically high. I once lived in an apartment many years ago that had 3 rent increases in one year. Only because the complex had been bought and sold three times in one year. It increased by 50%. My point is so I am expected to get a second job because the complex kept increasing my rent? I was already working a job that required 60-80 hours a week.

My hours got cut at the beginning of summer and we started to struggle so guess what we did. I went out and try to make more money. My husband did his best to get overtime. He has a new position making more and I can relax a little bit. There are ways to make extra cash when you need it. You just have to think out of the box

well yes and no.
Rent is too high is a fact.
Food prices are too high is a fact.
One, you can deal with it by moving to a smaller place or a different city.
2nd is to make more money. You can't change forces not in your control.

My alternative answer is to seek the cheapest place to live: a 2 bedroom share with a roommate. I did this in my 20s and 30s.

I get the point. But I mean….outrageous rent and mortgages are literally making what use to be a livable income not enough. AKA, the culprit.

All this doesn't matter when you have health issues and you are on your own.

I love how they just tell them the truth. 👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽👏🏽

It can be both. Rent is at an all-time high... we can work 1, 2, 3 jobs... but if our wages on average dont keep up with inflation, life is unsustainable.

True still rents should not be as high. Anyway, it is better to use money wisely and cut down on debt.

The culprit is on both sides but it’s not just income. Yes, the debt and over spending is a problem.

In the richest country in the world, you shouldn’t have to work 2 or 3 jobs. Landlords shouldn’t legal be allowed to raise rents by 10% a year and buy the majority of single family homes.

What's the point of going to college just to get a degree that pays you peanuts. You can get a job at the mill making that kind of money with no college debt. If you're not going to college to be an engineer, doctor, lawyer, Etc, then save your money and go to trade school instead.

True. You are the captain of your ship in life. Yes, sometimes life will throw things at you that you never expected ( I know personally) but that is why you take care of all of your finances. I'm a widowed Mom of 2. I own my home outright, I own my cars outright, I have all of my financial ducks in a row and check my finances every day. Take care of your business!
