How do you control the temperature of the water in your aquaponics system? Of the many options available, which is the most economical?

I have dwc foam raft boards with square holes for coco plugs. But the plugs disintegrate and leave the bed floor dirty.
Is there another options to use with the square hole boards?
I'll look for square net pots to use hydroton pebbles...?

Do your fish ever eat any of those veggies or fruit that they help fertalize or only fish feed?
My tilapia only eat fresh veggies and protein and won't touch fish feed now.
