Why doesn't Toad's voice sound like it used to?

Toad has a VERY distinctive voice - loud and screechy is how I'd describe it. But it wasn't always that way - so why on earth did it change so much?

Toad before: *little kid voice*
Toad now: *high pitched demonic screeching*

Toad's current voice is the biggest reason why I've been maining him in Mario Kart since MK7. The way he cackles when his attacks land is the best <3

In a few years they'll just use literal gravel for Toad's voice.

The only reason I remember the original voice is because "I'm the best" is a common sample

6:52, I interpreted that as her saying "I did an impression of the original voice, and that's what got me the role", not her saying "in my performance you hear in the game, I'm doing an impression of the original voice"

Toad has a new voice actor for the movie and *_THE WHOLE AUDIENCE IS GONNA FEEL HIS WRATH._*

Green Toad sounds like someone with a high pitched voice trying way too hard to go down an octave.

Toad then: Energetic kid
Toad now: Chain-smoking smurf

That scream at 8:03 always made me laugh, especially how it trails out at the end.

N64 Toad was a treasure. We should have never taken him for granted.

Favorite was the Mario Kart 64 version of his voice. Charming, joyful, and not annoying to hear after sometime.

I miss that "oh woh woh wohh" toad sound from N64

Considering how that initial voice actor had to voice both toad and peach, I could see the raspiness originally being her way of differentiating the two

I LOOOVE Isaac Marshall’s version. It sounds just right imo. Toad sounds so cute, happy, energetic and squishy. On top of all that, I can actually understand what he’s saying

As someone who can do a slightly decent Toad impression, I can confirm that it hurts. A lot.
