The answer to the question is simple

Nature isn’t sterile hence the reason why mushrooms don’t grow everywhere but only where the mycelium won the battle for the food source in order to survive.

We sterilise to give the mycelium the best chance to win the food source so we aren’t battling contamination from nature.

I think the "Clean" thing is not they won't grow, but what might grow with them.

Sterilization techniques are used because bacteria and mold thrive in the same environment as fungi. So in order to give yourself the best chances, you want the fungi to be the only thing introduced into your environment. This is also why going from syringe to agar to grain is recommended over syringe to grain.

In nature, far more spores are dropped which increases fungi chances despite the other contaminants versus the few by comparison of CC's from the syringe.

I love watching your moves bro, as a cultivator of many things I bet you now have moments with flowers when u look for gloves and alcohol and remember how easy flowers are vs this ♻️✌️✌️✌️✌️ you’re doing great

Look up twist tek - Twisting the top of the bag pushing the grain more towards the view window, will help to get those loose grains that sit on the top of the baggs. Great Video!

The best explanation for outside spawn vs inside spawn is the nutrients for the mushroom needs to sterile (inside) cause if the feed of the spawn is contaminated the mycelium would be contaminated however (outside mycelium is self sanitized by being under the ground apparently some parts of underground is very sterile for the mushroom and once growth of the fruit is being feed mycelium the easiest substrate the mushroom can find is cow manure since cow manure is healthy and earthy as is basically replicating nature is harder than it looks

Spawn:Subtrate ratios have a big impact on time and yield of grows.
More spawn like a 1:1 will colonize faster but has less water and will give less fruits/smaller fruits

More substrate like a 1:2-1:4 will have more water and give more fruits but take longer to colonize the more sub there is
🍻

Whenever they grow on their own out of manure, that’s the perfect environment for the mushroom to grow whenever we grow them inside that’s the perfect environment not only for mushrooms to grow, but also for other fungus and bacteria also! That’s what I was told. I enjoy all your videos. They’re so easy to follow btw

I always have that question as well. Mushrooms literally pop tf up everywhere out the blue but we have to be tedious & sterile.😩😂😂

I just started growing a few weeks ago, Im probably about 2 weeks out from moving spawn to tubs, and I'm getting nervous. I have watched 100s of videos to get ready to move my spawn to mono tubs. I'm building 2 automated Monos 66 QT tubs hope it all works out!! I probably should have started small with Uncle Ben's and shoe boxes I spent too much money lol. but now I can make my own spawn bags and substraight. Great Video can't wait to see more.

This is a very good video, anyone starting out growing or looking to see the basic process involved should watch this

A little late but from my understanding is you only see the successful mushrooms outside, you dont see them fail, you only see success.

you actually really dont need to clean anything with alcohol if you are spawning to bulk with coir.

coir is pretty contam resistant. and your spawn, the rice, if it's fully colonized is contam resistant too.

I have the same question about why we have to be as clean as an operating room but mushrooms can grow on whatever they choose to in nature. Lol
