<$800 New Custom Builds = AM4
>$800 New Custom Builds = AM5

(Rough estimates)

Real problem here is the 4070. Save ~$100 with a 7800xt and use that money for AM5

If you don't want to upgrade your computer for a long time and then want to build something completely new a few years later anyway, there's nothing wrong with that.

If your already on am4, just do the CPU upgrade. If it's a BRAND NEW BUILD just spend the extra money to insure upgrades down the road

i honestly disagree with this because by the time your computer is noticeably underperforming, it will have likely been worth waiting for am5 and ddr5 prices to actually settle

WHY DOES THE 3070 HAVE 8 GB VRAM BUT THE 3060 HAVE 12 GB, WHATS THE REASON. NVIDIA never got their minds straight bruh

Disagree, im building AM4 systems for my nieces and I'm using a 5600x instead of a 7600x because the difference in price means they can have an 7800xt on AM4 instead of a 7600xt on AM5 for their budget (£1100)

Tbf anything past 12th gen is way overkill for gaming, most games are gpu dependent so you’d be better off investing more into that than the cpu

Not everyone wants to upgrade their computer after a relatively short time.

Still rocking my first gen threadripper and 1080 lmao. Used to run BF1 and Overwatch at 90% max settings like a champ. Couldn't catch up with the latest games. Spending too much on micro transactions every "season" vs the game itself.

Hey Zach! I had a laptop with an i7-13620h but wanted to switch to a ryzen 7 8845hs, but all the benchmarks say i7 is more powerful, what do you think Is should do. But I ope your having a good day!😁

I had that AM4 combo for a while. Once I went to AM5 games became way smoother at 4k. The benchmark numbers didn’t change much but stutters and physics engines seemed to work noticeably better.

Whatever combo you choose just make sure you're using NVME SSD for your main gaming drive. Never thought it would affect me until recently with FF7 rebirth😢

I've learned that you generally get what you pay for. If you cheap out now, you'll probably regret it when you bottleneck your GPU or something and now you have to spend extra to get what you paid for in the first place.

in my country a good midrange pc for AM4 cost like 1.2K USD while on AM5 it's like 2.4K USD (not entry but beefy midrange build). AM4 is still great and it's always depends on the country. if u live in SEA yeah, better save that money rather than spend a lot.

I upgraded from a Ryzen 5 5500 and Rx 6700 10gb to a Ryzen 7 5800x and Rx 7800 XT from Gigabyte...

I built a high end am4 machine right after ddr5 came out and ddr4 prices fell, I don't regret it.

I think you might be saving a little more than 200 bucks, am5 CPUs and motherboards cost like twice as much

Some people just want to go all on it for the best price to performance and overclock the last juice out of their older hardware until it is unusable. For example, a 5700x3D will still last pretty long with that powerful 8 cores and 96mb 3D V-Cache. On the other hand, you will be getting an am5 cpu that only has 6 cores and maximum 32mb L3 Cache for a higher price, however you can upgrade it by spending less money. It depends on what you are looking for.

Sadly AM4 vs AM5 in pricing are insane here in SEA
compared to the west... This is the reason you still see so many are still building brand-new AM4 set ups.
