I’ve been installing carrier for 35 years so I’m very familiar with it. All brands have good units and bad units. But as far as efficiency, you’re better off going with a lower efficiency. The actual efficiency units achieve can be less than they are marketed at. The new seer2 rating system helps with this a bit. You have to pay way more for a couple points of efficiency. Sometimes you can’t reach a balance point where it saves you money before it needs replacement. A federal tax credit only works if you owe money on your taxes April 15th. They will not pay you any money if you get a refund. You have to owe. So save yourself money and get a 15 seer heat pump or a/c. Put in a 95% gas furnace instead of a 97%. You will only save a few bucks a month with the higher efficiency. I always find what will be the most cost effective for my customers.

I had a 4 ton, 2 speed performance system installed last year, they are not built like a tank as he says. The condenser base is so thin the system would not sit flat on the concrete pad, the base is very flimsy, they need to go to a composite base that is very sturdy, other brands are already using them. The top cover for the condenser had screws going in at an angle because the holes did not line up, one screw is half way in and at angle, but QC passed it. The condenser coil has black plastic spacers where the coil meets the base and the coil was not a perfect fit and some of the fins were crushed at the base, but they had those spacers to try and level out the coil, it is hard to describe. The louver side panels do not offer much protection, there is no screw in the middle of the panel on the edges, so when they move it around to position the condenser and push on the louver panels they make contact with the coil and bend the fins, at 4:10 in the video you can see fins already bent on the right side of the unit, probably from someone moving the unit around.
Then they put a 16 seer label in the condenser box, I had to call Carrier and give them the serial numbers to confirm it was a 17 seer unit. Quality control is lacking at Carrier. I replaced an Amana system, aka, Goodman, it was not reliable, but it was built like a tank.

It's about time someone put out a straight up honest and to the point video about a product. Well done good Sir.

The more expensive and the more costly the system, the more complicated it is. The more features, the more parts to fail and the more expensive the repairs.

We install Bryant. My personal favorite are the preferred series. Or for Carrier that would be the performance

Hello, enjoyed the video. However, I don't have the space for either of these heat pumps. The footprints are too large. However, I see Carrier has the Performance18 Compact Heat Pump. Can you offer information about this heat pump? Thank you.

In reference to this company residential service call, Taylor was quick with his response and was able to get Warranty parts for me thank you! Found failed air handler motor. Two days later a replacement was available and Dave came out this time and did a professional install along with checks of the AC performance and Freon check. It is nice dealing with a Company that still believes in customer service and not ripping off folks.

I paid 27K for a Carrier 5 ton Infinity A/C .... so far, JUST IN 2024, it has gone down 4 times in 8 months. Since installation in 2022 I have had no less than 8 service calls... I am not at all happy with the unit and feel suckered. Not to mention how freaking LOUD both the indoor and outdoor units are when they clunk on and off ... Not to mention when the unit 'ramps up' it sounds like a freaking jet plane in your house ... the balance of the system is non existant

Bought Comfort Series, set thermostat to 68F, turned fan from auto to ON 24/7. I get no sudden "attic heat blasts" when the cooling kicks in. I get constant air filtration due to the fan running ON all the time. The house has no hot/cold spots as the airflow is continuous. It's been running like this for 10 years.

I replaced my Goodman with a comfort series 4ton. The Goodman lasted almost 20 years. The electric bill is much lower with the Carrier unit.

Are those prices for the system and installation?

How about repair cost of the variable and 2 stage systems vs single speed? I’ve heard horror stories on cost/wait if something breaks with a variable speed.

Are these prices with or without labor/installation?

My biggest issue with any of these handler chassis, in Florida, when they're put in the attic, they rust and fall apart over time.

What state are you in your installation Prices are insane. $9, 000+ parts and labor highway robbery

I currently have a Carrier heat pump system in my home. Built in 2007 and it has multiple leaks. I am looking at the performance and comfort series but am wondering if the coils are copper in them or if they were changed to the cheaper all aluminim coils.

Be very careful offering the 2nd year labor warranty yourself. Anything over the one year warranty requires an Insurance license. The Insurance Commission can find out and there are penalties. Speaking from experience. Use a 3rd party insurer and save yourself the headache that goes with an audit. Soeme states may be different. I am in FL.
