You live in a very different Iowa than I did. Summers felt hot and long!

The only issue with the Infinity Series is that it only works with its proprietary thermostat due to the extra feedback communications required. Nests and Ecobee thermostats will not work with variable speed compressors.

Is the warranty the same on good, better and best? Thanks for posting, I did not know that carrier invented air conditioner.

the variable fans don't last as long as the aka; on-off fans. means when the repairman comes out, the motors are 4 times the cost of on-off motors. more issues you might have with a giant computer board. pray that doesn't die for 10 years $$$. what's the warranty on the computer boards, fan motor, compressor, and condenser parts.

If it gives you ten good years of no breakdowns, put me down for the basic brand. Energy savings are always overstated unless you have ethical beliefs.

Get the Bryant version. Exactly same thing but painted different color. Carrier owns Bryant and built on same assembly line.

Ok so we have 2 Trane air conditioners. They have lasted 23 years. One needs to be replaced. I'm sure Carrier is a good unit but I'm sticking with Trane.

Good review, thanks. Have you done a review for heat pumps?

I hate humidity but, when that variable speed unit breaks out of warranty...expect to pay to get it fixed.

Just replaced a 40 year old AC Unit. Its so old that I don't even know what brand it is. No name on it and stickers on it you can barely read. Replaced it with a Carrier and couldn't be more disappointed. It barely cools my upper split level. It is so loud with a continuous buzzing sound. The unit is right outside my kids bedroom and she has trouble sleeping. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I have the 5 stage one ( best ) I wouldn’t recommend it to anybody that lives in cold areas. Unit is great in summertime but in cold weather I live in ct it’s terrible. Today it is 10 degrees outside and the outdoor unit is not even turning on!!! Only air handler with aux heat. 1 year into it had a part go bad cost me $700 to fix because carrier didn’t want to cover their own warranty. This unit was the biggest mistake I ever made

Just talked to my friends overseas. In Australia air conditioners come with life time guarantees. Technicians come often to do thorough diagnosis and repairs if required regularly. Guess what australia do not manufacture them at all. Most are Japanese or European brands. Cost of deregulations, self regulations and outsourcing is costing Americans in trillions while corporatism take laughing to stock markets, banks and even parking in tax heavens overseas.

Hi. I'm in south florida in a single family 2200sqft under air home. I was quoted a Carrier 2-Stage, High Efficiency 24TPA748 (outdoor) and High Efficiency, Variable Speed FV4CNF005 (outdoor) units with a honeywell 9000 TS. Is this all a good pairing for my house? Is it overkill? Also it's a seer1 rating. Is that ok? I was quoted 8k which includes a new hurricane pad and supply plenum installed on garage ceiling. Good price right?

I would like to see the price difference a consumer might pay for each of the upgrades from the lowest price unit.
