Jeeze. I've had like a basic concept of this for a mew month's now. But this put everything into clearer perspective. I guess you could say my fstop has increased 😂

You're such a great teacher. I've watched like four videos from you and learned way more on your channel than the famous photography channels. Thanks for breaking down everything

WOW, thank you for explaining the Aperture and f-stop. I have had so much trouble understanding these two and have been reading books on it but just got more confused. I am such an analyzer that I get wrapped up with the why, how and so on. Thanks so much.

Excellent explanation of aperture and its effect upon exposure with one nit pick. The mechanical device that controls aperture size is note iris it's the lens diaphragm. Hole itself is analogous to the iris of a human.

The aperture “size” scale on the back of the camera only goes to 3.5. Strange because last night it went down to 2. Could it be possible at night the aperture number goes down on its own?my lens is 15-85mm

"35mm, 85mm, 50mm, 70-200mm, those are all the length of the actual barrel of the lens." - This is completely inaccurate, it is the FOCAL length of the lens, not the barrel length. Also, it's not the same between lenses, for example a Canon 50mm f/1.4 at f/1.8 lets in 2/3 stop more light than the Canon 50mm f/1.8 at f/1.8. That's why cinema lenses use T-Stops (transmission stops). This can be easily thought of by thinking that various lenses have a different number of elements, different coatings, and those reduce light transmission at different rates.
