83 chevy Impala and 85 chevy Impala make good demo cars in the country fair and reasonable to me that they should not junk the 80s Chevy Impala and run them in the demo derbyes

Those seats are real leather!
Caprices in the 1980s either had velour seats or on rare occasions leather seats.

The Cadillac seats in the purple Caprice probably came out of a pre-bustleback Seville, as I understand it they shared a lot of architecture with the Caprice series of GM cars so it would seem likely that a lot of parts would be interchangeable or could be made to fit. Of course that's not much help to current Caprice owners wanting to upgrade their cars as rear-wheel drive Sevilles are pretty rare now as well, though there do still seem to be the odd "barn find" and been sat in a garage forever since the elderly owner had to give up driving cars around which might be worth picking up if cheap enough to donate an interior and then maybe get most of your money back by parting out the rest of the car...

I reckon that bright blue '84 wagon had seen service as a taxi, there was a two way radio mike clip on the dashboard and vinyl seats would make a lot of sense when you're carrying passengers as they're a whole lot easier to clean every few days or week. I do wonder if they were the original seats reupholstered in vinyl, replacements from another car or just maybe really good fitted vinyl covers over the original cloth. I imagine that car has long gone to the crusher now so we'll probably never know. But somehow it seems unlikely some private buyer would buy the car new with a lot of options boxes ticked but order taxi-spec vinyl seats, though, of course, some people that had special order vehicles such as police forces did and it may well be that large taxi companies that bought their vehicles new might well have been able to do things like that too...
