The Narrow Road With Jesus

The other day I was just thinking about how many people are in the world today. I'm not sure exactly what it is, but something like 7.5 or 8 billion people. And out of all those people there are so many different beliefs and religions of the world. And it could be hard for someone to believe that there is only one way to heaven. This is not accepted by many people. People of the world believe that the world is like a mountain and God at the top, and no matter which way you go, you'll get to the top of the mountain. Hindus believe that. And also, many Christians believe that, as long as you're trying to do good, they think then you will get to the top. But not everyone can be right. Obviously, truth is not relevant to where you live in the world.

There are physical laws and there are spiritual laws that exist every single place you go. Just because you go to a different area of the United States doesn't mean that gravity does not exist there. And likewise, no matter where you go in the world, the same truths are about God, about His Kingdom, about Jesus Christ, about His Spirit. If you ask people in the world, they will tell you that there is a wide spectrum of people that will enter God's Kingdom.

And if it weren't for the words of Jesus, then we might be led to believe that we're okay by having sin in our life by going the way we want. We may be led to believe that if we follow our own heart, we will reach everlasting life. But we can trust in the more sure word of Jesus Christ because He is the Life, the Way and the Truth. And if you're a Christian today and if you're hearing this, I want to encourage you to put your faith in Jesus because He is the Truth, not what other people think, not what other people say, not their opinions. But the only opinion that matters is that of Jesus Christ.

And I want to read to you what Jesus said in regard to His Kingdom, heaven and who enters there. This is found in Luke chapter 13: 22And He went through the cities and villages, teaching, and journeying toward Jerusalem. 23Then one said to Him, “Lord, are there few who are saved?” And He said to them, 24“Strive to enter through the narrow gate, for many, I say to you, will seek to enter and will not be able. 25When once the Master of the house has risen up and shut the door, and you begin to stand outside and knock at the door, saying, ‘Lord, Lord, open for us,’ and He will answer and say to you, ‘I do not know you, where you are from,’ 26then you will begin to say, ‘We ate and drank in Your presence, and You taught in our streets.’ 27But He will say, ‘I tell you I do not know you, where you are from. Depart from Me, all you workers of iniquity.’ 28There will be weeping and gnashing of teeth, when you see Abraham and Isaac and Jacob and all the prophets in the kingdom of God, and yourselves thrust out. 29They will come from the east and the west, from the north and the south, and sit down in the kingdom of God. 30And indeed there are last who will be first, and there are first who will be last.

So, these are the words of Jesus that we have that we should keep near to our hearts. We need to keep in mind that the way with Jesus is the straight and narrow path. It is not the path of sin that leads to destruction. It is not the path of following your own heart's desire, living life for yourself, for selfish motives, selfish ambitions, chasing your own dreams. Following Jesus is the narrow way that few people find. And the reason why the way is so narrow is because sin is very appealing to people. Most people choose sin, that is, darkness over righteousness, which is the light of the truth. God wants to know if we will wilfully choose Him over all the pleasures of this life. Or will the pleasures of this life choke us out? Will we be willing to go the better way? For those who are willing to walk the straight and narrow path, there is a great reward for us, much greater than anyone's reward who seeks their own interest, their own pleasure, their own joy. For us that choose to follow Jesus Christ with all of our heart and lay down our life for Him, there is the greatest reward, yet in store for us. There are the secrets that have not been revealed to the world or to anyone that awaits the children of God. Will you put your faith in Jesus and trust Him? Will you walk that straight and narrow path? Or will you walk the way of the world that leads to destruction? May the grace of Jesus be with you.
