Windows 10 has been out for exactly 3 years now, which I know this video was uploaded a day late so sorry about that! I talk about the differences between all of the versions of Windows 10, and what has changed! I updated a VM through all of the different versions of Windows 10! There are 6 different versions (Not including insider). Windows 10 originally came out on July 29, 2015!

Windows 10 RTM, in my eyes was still an alpha product. It wasn’t nearly as smooth as windows 7 and 8.1, and had half baked features that weren’t fully integrated. But all could be forgiven because of its short turnaround from Windows 8.1. Since Vista, every version of Windows has 3 solid years of development. Vista to 7 was 3 years(2006-2009) and 7 to 8 was 3 years(2009-2012). You could fill in the gap and say that 8-10 also had 3 years(2012-2015), but there’s more to it than that.

The build number gap is the most damning of the evidence supporting Windows 10. Assuming each number has a build for it, from Vista-7 there were 1600 builds(6000-7600). Interestingly enough, from 7-8, there were also 1600 builds(7600-9200) 8-8.1 had only 400 builds, but all could be forgiven, it was a feature update. Windows 10, however also had only 460 builds at most, because it was made in less than a year. I have a feeling that Windows 8.2 was called off in favor or Windows 10, to give it a new name so people would buy it. Promising so many features in such a little bit of time will cause bugs to appear. In case you didnt understand, because reading this back I don’t even understand what I wrote, in 3 years, Microsoft can make at least 1600 builds of an operating system before it goes rtm, and Windows 10 didn’t get that, proving it only had a year of development.

I would say the grace period for Windows 10 ended with 1709. It had been well past 3 years of development at that point. To be honest, if your on a desktop, Windows 10 isn’t that bad once you get rid of all the telemetry and bloatware. As long as you have at least 8 GB of ram, a processor made in the last 5 years, and an SSD, Windows 10 should sing on it, maybe not as loud as Windows 8 would, but it should still. However, after having the amazing tablet experience of Windows 8, it is sad to see how crippled it is now. You need a map to find all the places they scattered charms, the search experience is far from perfect, none of the animations are as involved as in Windows 8, and the biggest blow of all is the start screen. You have only 3 columns to work with, and who ever decided that a vertical scrolling start screen is best should be fired. If they ported the Windows 8 experience to Windows 10 without changing a thing, I’d go as far as to say Windows 10 is a worthy successor to Windows 8. Until then it’s just a Windows 7 successor.

RTM launched as version 10.0, Microsoft retroactively gave it the version number 1507 to be in line with the later versions

I preferred the user icon and username being on the top, instead of what it currently is.

I'm still on Version 1709 which is supported until April 2019 I'll have to find a way to install the April 2018 update without getting a BSOD/Green Screen of Death (Windows Insider Program)

For the longest time I RESENTED Windows 10, mostly because of it spying on it’s users and I didn’t think it ran well at all, but I feel like most of it’s mistakes have been fixed at this point and it runs as smooth as Windows 8.1 these days. Now it operates my old MacBook Pro.

Idk if Microsoft ever said RTM wasn't RTM lol. First builds of all Windows 10 versions were all called/nicknamed RTM since at least 95.
