Is the 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer Family Friendly?

Today I’ve got a really requested smaller vehicle on deck! The industry is really moving away from sedans and it’s becoming one per manufacturer, so they are replacing a lot of those smaller cars with some subcompact SUVs like this 2024 Chevrolet Trailblazer. There are so many things to love about this vehicle, but is it right for your family?

In the meantime, check out my 2023 Hyundai Palisade tour here:

Sit back, relax, and let’s dive in!

Boggles my mind that they decide to not put rear vents in these

The trunk, it DOES go a “little deeper”. There is a second level that adds about an inch and a half of depth

You can flip the trunk floor over. There’s a non-carpeted side that gets less dirty. 👍🏼
You can also slide it into the lower shelf to give a small amount of extra depth.

I just picked up this Trailblazer RS in red. Got all the packages: sunroof, dual-pane, panaramic; Convenience package; adaptive cruise and soumd package; driver confidence package. Really like this vehicle. I also have the fully loaded 2024 Trax 2RS and love that one as well. The difference, other than appearance, I think, are the Trailblazer is a little smoother ride, larger on the inside, the center console and door arm rests are slighltly softer (but not much), power drivers seat in the RS model, but a negative is that the Trailblazer is louder with road noise than the Trax. Really love both of these, of course I got the AWD version of the Trailblazer.

I had this car, its amazing for a family of 5 with a small dog. I actually reallyy recommend this car. Great build and reliable. But remember it's not the fastest car .

I dislike no rear air vents and no middle headrest incase of a rear end collision! whiplash.

A fold-flat front passenger seat is my favorite feature in a car! Unfortunately, it's pretty rare and usual only in (sub-)compact cars. I wish more cars had it.

Great review! I have this car and absolutely love it!! I’m 5’9 and can sit behind myself comfortably with PLENTY of extra room. Definitely recommend it to anyone in the market also would recommend going with the 1.3 engine over the 1.2. And props to Chevy for including LED headlights standard on all trims.

middle seat can take a booster or car seat after 1 infant and 1 booster?

It's just cramped inside, and Chevy has destroyed themselves with horrible quality and not standing behind their mistakes, aka the equinox 2.4 engine.

So many dealers want to show the RS. Some of us would just once see an LS or LT.

This car is a good choice for small families

Thank you for calling out that, when optioned-up, $34-35k is getting up there for what this car ultimately is. For the same money, you could put yourself into something much more powerful, and arguably more reliable. I do love the looks of this, though, and have been considering one. It’s just the price that puts me off, as all the features I want have to be added via various packages: Adaptive Cruise & Sound, Convenience, Driver Confidence, Panoramic Roof, etc.

I wont know for myself until they show up but if you had the money would you get something better or will it fall apart you think in 5 years?

It’s missing rear vents but I love this option

Why spending $34k on a Trailblazer when you can get a Toyota RAV4 hybrid (41 mpg) for $31k? Or a Corolla Cross Hybrid (45 mpg) for even less: $28k

I went last week and looked at the only one the dealer had in stock. Love the looks, love the interior of the RS with the red accents. But as an old guy that grew up on big block Fords and Chevys that tiny motor just turns me off. Of course I might feel different if I ever test drive one. I have motorcycles with bigger motors. I’m only 5ft6 tall so the size is perfect for me and the wife and I would like to know how they do on an extended highway trip (with that tiny motor). Oh well, being retired I can’t afford one anyway. But I can still dream.

Would love to see a Kia Niro Hybrid family friendly review for this compact category. It's bigger than you think interior numbers are peeking our interest as we shop around for a just big enough economical option for a new 3 carseat family situation.
