I think if the teaser sketches had not been so banging with those maniac angles and lines and the yellow/silver colour scheme, people's opinions would not be as harsh as they are now about the design.

Yes, we all know that bikes on sketches and actual production bikes look different, but Honda seemed to properly make all of us excited at first, and then let us down a bit too much with the actual design.

Well, everything else is understandable, but the design is boring. you know what it is

I am going to buy a Honda CB650R before they sell out as it seems the manufacturers are killing off the 4 cylinders. I love the Neo Cafe Racer look, the exhaust system and the lack of electronic gizmos on the CB650R.

Can't wait for CBR750R and CB750R, with neo cafe look

ABSOLUTELY everything you said makes total sense to me. This bike is definitely the front runner for ending up in my garage. The naysayers can get something else.

I'd love to see a retro version of this bike. Something similar to the Z RS range would be awesome!

This is the only Honda I have ever been excited about. Not sure where all the hate is coming from. Sure it’s not the prettiest (wish they kept the CB650 headlight), but it appears to be a ton of bike for the money. Good job Honda

4cyl are great and they have their place, but modern 270° parallel twins are just so good. I want the lighter weight, higher torque, and even the noise. I’m especially glad this is a 750 instead of another 650 and it’s making very good power. Game changer in Honda’s boring and rapidly aging lineup.

Ive had many many engine types and to say after buying a tracer7 this is my favourite ..fast enough good on fuel pulls and pulls any gear...and sounds great...atb dave

I think you nailed the comparison in the first video. You compared the CB750 Hornet to it's real competitors on price and naked roadster bike type .
I still prefer the CB650R and Trident's round headlights, but if I was in the market for a middle weight naked the CB750 would be on the list to test.

I have the old hornet 09, and still running great never been boring to me.

we're going have to accept that the new 270 twin is the new UJM.

Another great informative video! I understand the logic of the decisions Honda made and why they made them. I’m still not convinced by the Hornet though (especially the looks) and cold engineering logic doesn’t always result in the best characterful bikes. But looking forward to giving it a chance with a test ride.

Good response Rob. As a Hornet 900 owner there’s lots of pluses to practical fun bikes like this. As far as looks I bet it will look loads better in person. Most bikes do.

There's a good reason most of these companies are going to twins, they feel good, offer a good balance of both power and torque and are more economical. Forget the critics, go for a twin and really ride it, give yourself time to get used to the feel and fun of them and you'll reconsider inline 4's as they're buzzy and power delivery is often worse, really providing power at higher RPM's and are just not all that comfortable over time.
If twins weren't being well accepted in the market by Triumph and others, Honda and Yamaha wouldn't be wasting their time. Give it a go, find out why twin cylinder bikes have always been a real pleasure. I'm wondering if we'll be seeing it in the U.S.

The design lets it down. They should have put the parallel twin engine in the the CB650R. That is a really good looking bike.

as a CB500F owner, its actually growing on me and when I upgrade next year I intend to test the Hornet against the CB650R and make a decision then. one thing that has struck me is that with the A2 remap available on the Hornet it might take away CB500F sales - after all its just another grand and then when you get your full licence you dont have to get a new bike

Oh yeah. Interesting tyre size. My 1996 Hornet 250 had a 180 tyre. One if the things I liked because it was a learner bike but had a 180 tyre. I'm in New Zealand.

I think you're right about the price with the Hornet. When you compare it to bikes like the MT07 and Z650 there's a lot more bang for your buck. Looks are important to me (but I bought a Tracer 9GT 🤔) and I just can't get over how boring it looks. It just reminds of the CB500f. I think the CB650R is stunning compared to the Hornet. At the end of the day with either of them you'll get Honda's renowned build quality and reliability.

I really like the Hornet on paper, I thinks it’s a great package and value for money also and I understand the cost-savings of parallel engines; however the looks are an acquired taste - I think at best it’s Honda-Handsome, but a bit safe. At worst - I might say the designers went a bit literal on the “hornet” body shape, the quad-dot headlights are a bit generic/ 2000s style, and the red frame paint reminds me of cheap, metallic red nail varnish. Apart from that, I think it’s great.
