How to use sort and filter using Microsoft Excel 2013

Hi my name is Roger Ahuja and I'm going to take a couple of minutes and show you here how to sort data in Microsoft Excel 2013. So, I have my data file opened up and as you can see it's a table with a whole bunch of information. And if I scroll down, try that again and if I scroll down you can see there's about 400 some odd fields and it's kind of hard to filter through and go up and down and look at all of those. So I want to be able to look at something quickly easily and the sorting and filtering is a great way of doing that. So, I'll look at sort real quick here. There are two ways of doing this. One you can just click here and you can sort the column you've got highlighted A to Z and boom it's sorted. If you want a little more control, then you go under data and click on sort. And now it's going to give you how you want to sort it and up here is something that says my data has headers in which case my data does have headers and you need to make sure if your data has headers and here I'm going to sort this by product family first and then I can create a second layer of sort and tell it that I want to sort by price next. So, now if I hit okay you will see that the product family is sorted A through Z first here and then price right after that. So, that's pretty much sorting. You can play around with that and let me show you how the filtering works. So again you can go back to the home screen and go under sort and filter on the right side and click on filter if your screen doesn't display this, you can just go under data and then right next to sort there's filter. You can click on filter and you will see these little arrows show up underneath the bottom right of each cell so I can click the down arrow there and we can pick what we want to see. So, for example, let's say I want to see here. I can uncheck everything here and let's say I just want to look at the biztalk stuff. So there now I've just go the biztalk stuff. Now I still have 19 fields and let's say I want to sort that a little further and the product type I just want to see the licenses and software assurance and I hit okay and now boom I'm down to four choices. All the data is still there you just cant' see it so I can click here and select all and it will make it all visible again and that's it.
