How to use SORT Function in Excel

In this video, I’ll show you how to use SORT function in Excel.

The SORT function in Excel sorts the data in an array in ascending or descending order.

The SORT formula in Excel, is part of Lookup & Reference formulas in Microsoft Excel.

If the new Excel SORT function is not working, then you must update excel to the latest version. You can combine the SORT and FILTER function to get the result based on your requirements.

Syntax of SORT Function:
=SORT(array,[sort_index],[sort_order],[by_col])

ARGUMENTS:

array: (compulsory)
It is the range or array to sort the data.

[sort_index]: (optional)
It is the number for row or column to sort by.

[sort_order]: (optional)
1 for ascending (by default) and -1 for descending.

[by_col]: (optional)
FALSE to sort by row (by default) and TRUE to sort by column.
