when i see this all i think, is when i was a kid, playing local multiplayer with a wire cable with my gameboy color and some friends around a park! kids now our days will never have this satisfaction!

handheld is also designed, at least my in my view, to be a bit more kid friendly. For example, there is the lack of hinges, so no worrying about the hinges breaking if a child (or anyone) drops it. Hinges breaking can lead to major problems with the handheld, such as it becoming two pieces.

i agree tough it's not as portable. you can't fit it in most pockets and i think that the screen may be more likely to get scratched because you can't close it. i think this is still a pretty good deal none the less, a spechally for those who only wanna buy a 3ds for pokemon x/y when it comes out

The 2DS is basically a remodeled 3DS that lacks the 3D feature. It still is able to do everything else, including playing 3DS games. The name is simply there to tell people that it is 2D-only, although the name is probably going to cause some confusion.

My nephew is 6 and always plays with the slider down because he can hold it in the right place for long periods on time. its a fucking great idea and now i know what i'll be getting him for christmas

I once dropped a gameboy color down 4 flights of stairs before it fell 20 feet to the ground, still works today.

The buttons seem to be in the middle more, so i feel it would be kinda like holding a wii-u tablet. As for fitting it in your pocket, i feel as that is unnecessary since most kids would probably take it with them on a long car ride, take it to school (in a backpack), or just take it somewhere, all you really need to do is just carry it which isn't that difficult to do. Also you are correct about my mistake with the price, i thought 3ds's were much more expensive than they are currently.

I hate how people are disliking the 2ds so much, it's basically a 3ds but half price that doesn't have a 3d option. If you ask me i feel like thats a great deal since everyone ive seen with a 3ds will ever use the 3d option. Now for people hating how the design is changed there is a sleep button on it that does exactly what closing a 3ds would do also ive seen tons of 3ds's top screens break because of the hinge disconnecting wires, so it is more difficult to break. Honestly i may get one myself

It also helps that the 2DS will be cheaper, so parents may be more likely to buy it compared to the 3DS or the 3DS XL.

For some people it does cause headaches, but for others it doesn't do a damn thing. I know someone who plays with the 3D, turned up to max, all the time without any ill effects.

People throw a fit every time Nintendo comes out with an upgraded version (ex: 3DS and 3DS XL) of the current handheld, or an alternative (ex: DSi and DSi XL). A lot of people are failing to realize the 2DS is mainly being marketed towards young children, not them.

people don't seem to grasp the fact that this is not tailored for all of us, it is for kids bellow the age of 7, it's the bare bones version of the 3DS and i think it's an excelent idea, specially the fact that it's cheaper and looks sturdier and therefor, there shouldn't be so much of an issue with the mal-use of that comes with young kids

The disconnecting wires are almost breaking my 3DS. That is literally the only reason I might ever get a 2DS, though, since I already have a 3DS...
I feel like this is something that should've been announced earlier.

exactly. Money does not grow on trees. cheaper usually is the better price especially for parents. plus this is a really good system and company to go to if you want plenty of child friendly games. Basically games for everyone. So don't be quick to judge everyone. Judging will get you no where.
