Day - 91:

Chapter 04 – śloka 33:
श्रेयान्द्रव्यमयाद्यज्ञाज्ज्ञानयज्ञ: परन्तप |
सर्वं कर्माखिलं पार्थ ज्ञाने परिसमाप्यते || 33||

śhreyān dravya-mayād yajñāj jñāna-yajñaḥ parantapa
sarvaṁ karmākhilaṁ pārtha jñāne parisamāpyate

Word by Word Meaning:
śreyān – greater;
dravya-mayāt – with material objects;
yajñāt – than the sacrifice;
jñāna-yajñaḥ – sacrifice performed with knowledge;
parantapa – O destroyer of the enemies;
sarvam – all;
karma – action;
akhilam – in its entirety;
pārtha – O Arjuna, son of Prtha;
jñāne – in wisdom;
parisamāpyate – culminates;

Explanation Ch 04 – śloka 33:
Knowledge, not material possessions, leads man to wisdom; it enhances his personality and leads him to enlightenment. Ritualistic ceremonies, fasting, chanting mantras, undertaking pilgrimages, etc., can only take a person thus far. Still, when these are performed with knowledge, it becomes the ultimate sacrifice that takes the aspirant towards his goal.

Meaning Ch 04 – śloka 33:
O destroyer of the enemies (Arjuna), a sacrifice performed with knowledge is greater than the sacrifice of material objects. [After all,] O son of Prtha (Arjuna), all action in its entirety, culminates in wisdom.

Chapter 04 – śloka 34:
तद्विद्धि प्रणिपातेन परिप्रश्नेन सेवया |
उपदेक्ष्यन्ति ते ज्ञानं ज्ञानिनस्तत्त्वदर्शिन: || 34||

tad viddhi praṇipātena paripraśhnena sevayā
upadekṣhyanti te jñānaṁ jñāninas tattva-darśhinaḥ

Word by Word Meaning:
tat – that;
viddhi – know;
praṇipātena – through complete surrender;
paripraśnena – through humble inquiries;
sevayā – by serving;
upadekṣyanti – will instruct;
te – you;
jñānam – knowledge;
jñāninaḥ – the enlightened;
tattva-darśinaḥ – the seers of the Truth (those who have realised the Truth);

Explanation Ch 04 – śloka 34:
The Lord encourages the sādhaka to take to the path of wisdom by seeking refuge in a guru, a spiritual master who alone can teach him the Ultimate Truth, having experienced it himself. The aspirant can experience the Truth by serving such a guru and continuously learning from him.

Meaning Ch 04 – śloka 34:
Know That (Truth) through complete surrender, humble enquiries, and by serving the enlightened who have realised the Truth. They will [then] instruct you in that knowledge [of the Truth].
