Is pushing veganism offensive?

TODAY'S VIDEO:

In today’s video, I chat with a student from UCSD about his ethics around eating animals. We debate whether issues such as the legality of eating animals, the cultural significance around animal products or the amount of time we’ve been eating animals are relevant when it comes to deciding whether or not it is moral to not be vegan.

We live in a world where asking people to stop being cruel towards animals is considered offensive. I never realized how horrible some people were until I started speaking out against animal cruelty. The mere act of me not eating meat at a table triggers so many. It blows my mind.

It’s all about planting the seed with everyone around us, as effectively as we can. That’s all we can do. Thanks Ed! ❤

I’m learning so much from Ed about how to have a dialogue about veganism. I just received his book How to Argue with a Meat eater. I tend to get very emotional and angry when I talk to meat eaters. I’m striving to emulate Ed’s approach but I find it’s not easy for me. I have so much anger at peoples’ disregard for animals’ suffering.

What do people think life would be like if gay rights activists, abolitionists, and suffragettes hadn't pushed their views?

There's never a moral justification for harming an animal. As always, thanks Ed for your great work! We gotta keep that vegan message out there! 🌱💯💚

One of the most open minded interviews I’ve seen Ed have. Cool young man, hope he makes the change in his own life and inspires others around him

Attempting to make meat eaters aware of the fact that they are funding the enslavement, torture and murder of animals is not "pushing" veganism. Whereas meat eaters do not simply "push" their unnecessary dietary choice upon defenseless animals - they force it. It is meat eaters who offensive, if cruelty is offensive to the civilized man.

Ed, I really appreciated how composed and level-headed you remained throughout the discussion. It's not easy to have conversations about such an emotionally-charged topic, but you did an excellent job of articulating your perspectives in a respectful and empathetic manner. Your commitment to raising awareness about the suffering of animals in the food industry and advocating for veganism as a way to reduce that suffering is truly admirable. By maintaining a calm and rational approach, you allowed the message to shine through without getting bogged down in heated debates. Discussions like this are so important for fostering understanding and encouraging people to think critically about the ethical implications of their dietary choices. Well done, Ed, for being a compassionate voice for those who cannot speak for themselves, thank you. 🌿
