It's quite a thing for a professional astronomer to say that the object could be artificial. That's not something an academic with their professional reputation on the line would do lightly.

Probably was a rare mineral we missed our chance to gather. Maybe a gift from another planet thinking we would gather it up?

One thing is for certain... Astronomers have been proven to be speculators when this object came into our system and it began doing things that was not what they called "Natural"... Such as it's speeding up instead of slowing down and also taking a gradual turn off its course after swinging past the sun. For those who didn't know. After the "Rock" swung out of our system and start heading away, it not only picked up in speed, it made a very slight turn, as if to correct it's course, like any of out long distance satellites would do.
And as for another 2 theories that came from Cosmotologists that this "thing" had proven... One, NOT ALL COMETS ARE THE ICE BALLS, which this object confirmed coupled with the Rosetta Mission. And two, ROGUE OBJECTS DO EXIST, almost completely confirming the possibility that a random planet could end up passing through our system from a system that lost it's parent star.

No, it's a spacecraft, with beings inside.
We humans live in this experimental planet ( the dinosaurs were an experiment of alien beings. And the destruction of the dinosaurs, (the meteor was from a competing alien faction, jealous of the other more intelligent, aliens. ) was the first experiment on this planet. The prime experiment have been the different species of humans, from the "Cave Man" and its different species within, ( Cro-magnan, Javaman, Neanderthal, etc )and from the ancient Roman's, Greek's and Egyptians, on to the Renaissance civilization to the 20th and 21st century man. All of humanity have been an alien experiment; to witness how we figure out problems, how we deal with our mates, how we treat other lower forms of life ( insects, animals ), to how we view the world that we live in. ( the human brain may firue out the world but may never figure out itself ( Einstein?) We never think of how we went from hunters and gatherers, to farmers, to working in an office. And how we went from banging rocks together ( for music ) to building musical instruments ( the amazing piano, (from the harpsichord), horns, and string instruments )
Not to mention the history of vocalization. ( opera, jazz, the blues & rock ). Also not to mention man's darker side, from tribal wars, to world wars, politics (from The Romans to Eisenhower, The Kennedys and Trump), to how we communicate, (from the grunts, clicks and whistles (of the Caveman) to the telephone (with a dial tone, now extinct) to 5G( that fries oxygen molecules in the bloodstream
And put in our children's schools secretly, under the Vail of Covid-19). Humans, have been and are a very interesting experiment that all the galaxies, either want to be apart of, own and enslave or obliterate.
