As a non Korean I knew of Baek Jiyeon, but I had never known about this. I now have even more respect for her now. There were hints of something of this here and there and on shows she was on. She and others may have made slight references about her past. But Jiyeon is so funny I thought they were just making things up.

No wonder she is as strong a personality as she is now. Only legends survive and come out of the other side of horrific encounters like that. She deserves all her hard won fame, awards, and accolades. And legendary status.
