What is something you repaired lately? Or maybe something you want help fixing? Thanks for watching!

I’ve fixed three TVs this exact same way. Thanks for documenting the repair process so well.

Shockingly to the point avoiding the unnecessary rambling of most YouTube repairers. Subbed.

I like how you only used a screw driver, multimeter, flux, and a hot air station.

Bruh you literally said "with just a screwdriver" and then brought out the entire workshop lol

If someone complains about your infrequent videos or something about not doing anything major I'd like to be first in like to sock em'. This is a practical logical actual repair. If a technician were given this TV they would charge much more than the mere $100 you put into the first iteration. Thanks for bringing us along.

When I was a kid I went to a man who fixed TVs with TUBES - he taught me how to TEST TUBES when every QUIK TRIP & 7 ELEVEN store had a Tube-Tester box and I fixed tv's for many years ! As an adult I got a job fixing machines in a factory - retired I fix desk-top computers - enjoy FIXING ! :-)

I think the coefficient of thermal expansion is different between the chip that gets hot, and the board it's soldered to. This slight difference in thermal expansion causes a stress fracture over time in the relatively weaker solder that bonds the two components together.

I've always been that guy who will attempt to fix it before discarding and paying for new. From cars to windows, cell phones, vcr's and of course tvs. Thank you for your service to educate. These types of videos save money and produce less volume in a landfill.

I have the same tv and been having the same problem for three years now. I throw the board in the oven at 385 for 10-15 minutes about twice a year. There seems to be a 90% fail rate on the m series from Vizio and some of those parts are interchangeable with lg models (e.g., t-con board and power boards.

In the repair world it would be considered a bandaid. Reflowing got a bad rap because people would do the same on GPUs for computers and call it fixed. But the problem with GPUs were mostly bad chips. There isn't any real way of knowing if the chip itself is bad or if it's potentially cracked joints underneath from warping. So the safest options is usually just replace the chip or the entire board.

Great video as always. I fixed a free TV from watching your Channel for $20 dollars. Thanks again

T-CON stands for 'Tiny Control'? lol
I pull these TVs from curbs all the time, I am blown away how casually people toss them. Usually the worst problem I have with the TVs is no remote. And even if there is a cracked screen, plug it in anyway, there's usually what looks like abstract art on the screen. I have used those as uniquely creative table tops lots of times and they last for a couple years, even if you purposely keep cracking the screen.
At times, I have had 50+ inch TVs in every single room of the house, including the bathroom and hallway, just because I could (until the next months electrical bill brought that to a screeching halt.).

I just fixed an old 16inch LCD TV just by replacing the power/lcd inverter board. Easy! Thanks to your inspiring and informative videos I had the confidence and enough knowhow to work out what was wrong. Many thanks

Wow, great video. I tried to fix a samsung tv but ran into an issue after replacing a power board. The bottom is darker shaded (not black). Have you heard of this?

I've repaired TVs by switching out diodes that were obviously bad swollen and I've rewet solder connections on boards, but I have a question about my newest curb TV that said " works but no remote" Well, that wasn't true, at least the part about "works" anyway. So I wiped it off and plugged it in, looking for the standby ready light which did light up. Next I tried to find the control buttons on the outside of it which to my amazement, there were none except for a large power button underneath the standby light. So I pushed it and for a split second the screen had a flash of light go across it and that was it, after that the standby light started blinking. I'm sure this all means something, but I don't know what. Can I get some ideas from you? I look at it as a challenge to fix if it's fixable 🤔
