You're wrong. It's not that it's not really reactive, it's that it oxidizes very quickly, and when it does, it won't make a big reaction with water. If you drop fresh, unoxidized lithium it water though, it will literally blow up.

Yeah, but lithium FOIL is super reactive and explodes in water. Pure lithium metal probably doesn't as shown here

It seems as if you could use this to heat rations packs in no time at all. Possibly if you shaved it, it seems like it would last a while and you wouldn't need alot of weight.
