you don't explain why you turn the distributor body anti clockwise at 3.33?

Electronic ignition, upgraded spark plug wires, more powerful ignition coil, etc. is in my opinion the best upgrade for the old VW air cooled.
After watching the video I have just one small comment. Better to use wire separators, zip ties to bundle them together is not such a good idea. ;-)

Use a stroboscopic timing light. With the vacuum hose disconnected and plugged, set the timing to 7.5 degrees BTDC at 900 RPM (idle). Timing should be set initially at 30-32° BTDC at 3, 500+ RPM, vacuum hose disconnected and plugged. Maximum advance, at 3, 500+ RPM, vacuum hose connected, with no load on engine (car sitting still), light throttle, should not exceed 42-44° BTDC.

So close to getting your sleeve in the belt! Tie wraps on plug wires is no bueno.

I bought one of your complete kits with vac advance. I’ve just got around to fitting it on my recon engine. There’s no mark on these that I can see for cylinder 1 and after turning the engine over, no 1 cylinder doesn’t sit in the factory position. Is this right?. It’s more at 60 degrees from the rear tin.

Very informative video, thanks a bunch.  Getting ready to do this today as a matter of fact.

I have a 1600 dual port--with dual weber 40 idf carbs...I have the Pertronis flamethrower II---but drawing the vacuum off of only 1 carb has made it difficult to time correctly. I noticed you are using duals---words of wisdom on vacuum advance on only 1 carb????
