(Cheap security )- Keep 4'x8' sheets of 1/2" plywood stockpiled at your house to cover each window. When you need to install it, do it behind your closed curtains or blinds. That way from the outside it doesn't look like your hiding food or water, etc. You can use deck screws with washers to attach the plywood to the studs that run vertically on each side of your window. Being in construction I can tell you 1/2" plywood is brutal trying to demo because it's pliable and soaks up shock easily making it a real pain to get through. The good thing about this method is you will know when to defend with deadly force if needed as soon as that window outside the plywood breaks. At that point there's no guessing "you're in trouble". Save at least one door that you can exit quickly if need be.

We had a small Jack Russell terrier, and when he was about a year old, he was sitting on the back of a loveseat we had positioned in front of a living room window. It was wintertime, January and a bitter cold night. We were up late watching a movie, it was around 1 am.... and the heat was running, and that window had louvered blinds on it, fully closed. Our JRT started growling in a low tone. Then he stood up and tried getting his nose behind the blinds. He then jumped down and went to the front door not far from the loveseat. And he was snorting as he sniffed at the bottom of the door. We both thought someone was outside prowling, and I peeked through the corner of the blinds, to see what was out there.... and I'll be darned, a big deer about 20 feet away from our house, was munching on a bare spot of lawn, where the snow was gone. We couldn't believe how that dog knew something was outside.

Years ago, I had a severe trespassing problem. They cut paths through the blackberries and cut the barbed wire. So I started hanging road kill on t-bar posts at the areas of break in. Posted signs that reflected the meaning of the dead animals. Trespass stopped

Once three guys in a boat came across the lake to my house on a moonless night, after midnight. Just before they exited the boat onto my land, I hit them with two, one million candle power lights, blinding them. I told them I know who they are, and where they lived and that I had them covered for a half mile across the lake. I told them that the sheriff's department was notified and would meet them at the county boat dock. I never saw them again.

The solution, in my opinion, is to create a hard to kill target who's not afraid to dispatch them. Instill fear in your opponents.

I learned a lot about home security from the movie, “Home Alone.” 😅

Boards with nails driven thru them can be used as a defense tool. Turn them sharp side up, bury them a few inches in the ground under windows. Cover lightly with leaves, old grass clippings, etc...( don't forget where they are placed for your own safety )

Another consideration is to view these concepts from the standpoint of not having electricity or access to the Internet. For perimeter security, a simple alarm system using twine and sleighbells that you can get for decorative purposes at Christmas time and rigging a series of tripwires around the property to give an early perimeter alert. That way, you have time to react inside the house. You can make faraday cages with 10 gallon aluminum cans and aluminum tape around the lip of the cans to make sure that the seal is tight for the lid and then store batteries, flashlights, long range walkie-talkies, ham and other radio equipment, and other electronics that you may need after the grid goes down.

Make sure to test every piece of equipment thoroughly before you have the grid down situation because once it happens, you’re not going to Walmart and getting parts or more equipment. You are going to be using what you have. Think in terms of going back to the Stone Age where nothing electric works and you have to grind your wheat for baking bread with a manual grinder, having ways to heat without electricity, being able to cook without gas or electricity (propane will work for as long as you have access to a supply, but after that, you will want to know how to build a rocket stove. You will also want to know how to filter water when all of the current products can’t be obtained. You might look at using terra-cotta pots as water filtration devices. There are lots of videos on the Internet about that right now and it’s a good idea to get trained on all of those things before you lose access to the information. Also finally you will want to get hardcopies of books for every kind of survival skill because once you can’t get to the Internet anymore, you will only have what you know already and what you have in the form of a book to look up.

One of the most important survival skills is to build a community of skilled (and tested) people who have a very clear structure of roles, responsibilities, leadership, and to test it often. You’ll want at least a few people who have self defense, medical, food cultivation and preservation, etc.
Also, consider installing EMPShield devices —

Most importantly: GET GOD.
Get back to what made this country great, adherence to Christian morality and the template for right living that we were given by Jesus Christ. Raise your children in the admonition of the Lord. Go to church every Sunday and build your Christian community with your neighbors. Reach out to your local neighbors and build those relationships because you will need each other.

Finally, there is no time to waste. If you have eyes and ears and a brain, you know that the insanity of this world is sourced in a great and growing evil. You must fight this and you must encourage everyone you know to do the same because this is a battle of a spiritual nature and if you study Holy Scripture, you know that the Kingdom is coming and that the Lord is drawing near. He is giving all of us a chance to repent and turn ourselves toward His Will for us. Get right with God and with each other!

We live in a suburban neighborhood and what we did was get with our neighbors and between all us we have each other's property covered. Meaning what our security system doesn't see their's will and vice versa. Just some extra protection

The roof is the easier way to get into a house, believe me. It’s just plywood, felt and shingles and voila you’re inside. I’ve done roofs and work in houses. The best roofs are the metal ones.

Very sensible list. As you mentioned, nothing is impenetrable, but every second or minute gains you an advantage.

Great video. Everyone's scenario is different and we might all defend a little different. That be said, we will protect our loved ones at all cost. It's more obvious than ever that chances are you won't be rescued by someone else. So we prepare for any and all situations. Bless ya'll.

My father and uncles were drafted. My grandfather fought in WWII. I had family that lived through the depression. My children are in a sense of entitlement. Covid has been a challenge. I would rather have it. I hated standing in long lines six feet apart to be allowed one item. 😢. I have no desire to go out on civil unrest and fight for overpriced food with diseases etc.

Good information as always. I have 9 dogs. They are a great security system. No one comes into our home without them going off and alarming us. And if we aren't home, it will make them think twice about entering and getting attacked once they hear them all sounding off. I'd think twice if I went to some ones house with the intention of robbing if I heard multiple dogs sounding off. Even if I had a gun/knife.

Another very good door upgrade is a deadbolt. Put, one foot below your doorknob. The area where most doors fail first. And if you're really concerned, a second dead bolt one foot above your doorknob.

As you were speaking, one of the best alarm systems walked down your drive-way !

We plan on bugging in. Son in a wheelchair and medical fragile is the main reason. Hopefully we can stay put and don't have to run. Working on extra security for the windows now

Another great topic security. We have battery operated security systems with cameras all around our property. We also have plenty of toys for protection. I have got telephone poles at the front part of my property that me and my neighbor can use the block vehicles. Also we have rolls and rolls did I say rolls of barbed wire that can be put up at an instant to secure the grounds all the way around the home.it's all about safety eyes on things and knowing how to control your circumstances. Super good topic sir

To all those out there who may at some time find themselves in a very desperate situation, please before risking your life or taking someone elses, just ask. Many people I know will be more than willing to help anyone in need if they can. We are all in this together.

I've said this before - I love that you present things in a reasonable and well thought out way, instead of the alarmist panic that many people use. I think some are eagerly waiting for the chance to implement their precautions, but you are showing how to keep your home secure in a day to day or emergency situation and I appreciate it. Only one things occurred to me that you didn't mention and that is to have some of your cameras hidden. A nice, obvious camera is a great deterrent but just yesterday I watched a video in which a person spray painted two cameras, but missed the third. Having some obscured from casual view and at different heights is never a bad idea. Thank you, as always, for the great content!
