Microsoft Excel is a powerful spreadsheet program widely used for data analysis, calculations, and record-keeping. Adding units to your Excel cells is a valuable practice to ensure clarity and prevent misunderstandings in your data. Whether you're working with measurements, financial figures, or any other numeric data, including units enhances the readability and comprehensibility of your spreadsheet.
In this intermediate excel tutorial I’ll show you an excellent excel trick that will allow you to specify units i.e. kg, feet, inches, mile, km. Usually if you add text with your cell value it converts the value as text resulting error in formulas. But in our solution you’ll be able to add units and also you can use those cells inside your formulas.
Follow the procedure below to add units with cell value in Microsoft excel.
*Step 1:* Highlight a column or range you want to add units.
*Step 2:* Right-click to select “Format Cells…”.
*Step 3:* In the “Format Cells” dialog box, switch to the “Custom” tab.
*Step 4:* Type 0 “Your unit name” into the “Type” field.
*Step 5:* Click “OK.”
