I own a cloud up 2 and it went with me on the West Highland Way in Scotland in May '24. I wished my tent had more fabric because the nights were a bit cold in the CU2. So I bought this one, especially to get more headroom, bigger entry and the extra fabric on the inner tent, making it a warmer 3-season tent during colder sping and fall nights. I always use trekking poles, so the open-door setup is greatly appealing to me.

Glad they made bathtub floor more aggressive for this new UL version. I dealt with a lot of splash back one time camping with my purple mongar 2 during a heavy downpour. Now, i put a tarp over tent if needed for hard rain. Im tempted to order this new tent.

WOW! Would love to see a comparison with the StarRiver UL and this Mongar 2 UL!!!

This looks awesome. My orginal Mongar was a little bit too drafty because of all the mesh, this would be even better. And now they make a one person version....love it!

A lot of companies that make the higher end ultralight gear are switching to Sil Poly with PEU coatings, for the benefits of poly not retaining water inside the fabric like Sil Nylon and potentially weakening the fabric over time, I'm sold on poly and have a Durston X-Mid1 for backcountry but I also keep a One Tigris for casual state park type camping and less fear of it being stolen.

The Mongar 2 is an absolute beast. My brother and I got caught in a monsoon storm and we both had Mongars. They performed FLAWLESSLY in the storm.

Just got one of these, thanks to your review Luke. It's awesome! Weight wise, it fits right in between a Nemo Dragonfly and a Nemo Dagger. I just camped out in my backyard and we had a heavy rainfall come through; bone dry. The two large pockets on either end are good size, and the two pockets at the top are an added bonus.
For anyone interested, here are the weights I measured on mine:
Tent Body and Fly - 2 lbs 4.4 oz
Poles - 1 lb 0.12 oz
Stakes - 5.08 oz
Total w/o footprint: 3 lbs 9.6 oz
Footprint - 8.18 oz

You always mention on a hot humid nights 😂 never had any of those. Wind rain and cold is what we have to deal with in the UK because on Scotland after 12 deg celcius you have to deal with the midges.

Hey Luke, I love the tent. How's your mom? Love and hugs to her. Hello sweet Susie. Thank you 👍🏽. MS Ann

This awning reminds me of my ideal solution for an awning I've not seen on a tent yet. And that is an awning with side walls to protect from rain. This one has the partial side walls which is interesting.
I'd love to see a larger tent with awning that allows room for a chair to also have side walls to protect from rain/snow.

Great review! I was swithering between this and Simond MT900 2person. I’ve just purchased this tent, I think it will be perfect for Scotland, we certainly don’t ‘suffer’ from hot nights!

I like the idea of this to complement my existing Mongar 2 and potentially extend the camping season a little. The reduced weight would help offset the extra gear needed in colder conditions.

The fabric on the inner will stop annoying drafts and I see it as an absolute positive thing 😄 I do live in the UK though... 😄

Got this tent a week ago and is amazing! So far, the down side of this tent is that you cannot close/open vents from inside the tent.A zipper in the inner tent wall, will be amazing!

I’ve had the Mongar 2 for years and to be honest the worst part about it for me has been the mesh. I live in Scotland so very rare so it’s often got a colder breeze coming through. That extra fabric looks brilliant. The door set up too looks great. Don’t think I heard you mention the poles so I’m guessing are they still the same? Cheers for the review Luke.

Just bought one a few weeks ago. Arrived yesterday the the awning sold me. The previous tent we had was 6lbs. We will be glad for a weight drop. But gets pretty humid here so will be interesting, so see how it does.

i've made the side fabric "skirt" mod on my mongar 2, really usefull where i camp with always persistent medium to strong wind. So happy to see Nature Hike made quite the same mod!

We’ve been waiting for a lighter tent that can handle constant chilly nighttime moisture, and wind gusts. After moving to the PNW we’ve had toooo many wet and chilly nights outdoors. The floors didn’t have sufficient height, splashback and ground mist were a villain; the dang condensation was like an indoor steady rain. We just purchased this and are really looking forward to a backcountry soon. Thanks so much!
