Toyota GR86 vs Subaru BRZ

In Australia a manual GR86 is nearly $5K more expensive than a BRZ because of Toyota Australia’s decision to offer the manual & auto at the same price. The BRZ is the smarter choice.

Did he just say that subaru made the brz more stiff? See people, thats why you cant listen to youtubers, they just dont know what they are talking about. The very only mechanical difference between both cars is the suspension, and the 86 is way stiffer than the brz. The sway bars on the 86 are not only thicker, but they are also mounted directly to the body of the car. On the brz the sway bars are thinner and mounted to the subframe of the rear diff. The sway bar ratio is also different: the brz has the same bar thickness front and back while on the 86 the rear bar is thicker than the front one. Hence why the 86 can hold drifts more precisely than the brz and the brz understeers a bit more. Plus, spring rates and valving are much stiffer on the 86, about 10-15% stiffer, front and back. That makes the brz the better everyday/long trip commuter and the 86 the better track day car...

I love that they're both great options that are slightly different. I personally prefer the BRZs looks, stability, WRBlue, but both are great cars

Don’t forget that the BRZ also comes with Subaru’s excellent EyeSight safety system, making it a safer daily driver.

I like that the 86 and the BRZ have the different front ends. The 86 looks like it's intently digging into the drive, while the BRZ is giggling because it's just having fun. Damn I really want one of these.

In the USA Brz has the red seats while the gr86 is grey

Honestly I'd take either, just don't forget to budget the unfuccing of the oil system with a dry sump one and a sump with an actual seal instead of silicone.

The floor carpet is bad ass. After seeing that, I'm going to change my floor carpets to blue, as well as my seat belts to blue to match my interior trim. I have the 2024 BRZ tS, I'm in Canada.

I've always loved the look of the 86's but the BRZs kinda grew on me too. Thankfully I'm a WRX guy so I don't have to make the choice cause I love them both
