Aha! Since multiplying by -1 implies rotating 180° to the left, I imagine I can do it in 2 steps: rotate 90° into a transverse plane 1st - let's call that step "times i". Then rotate again. So i^2= -1. We can deduce that sqr root -36 is 6i or -6i.

root(4)= ±2, since this is true, then when you rotate the math rules 90° where: -(-1 =-1, +(+1= -1 root(-4) =±2
