Congrats on your Evo 7 GTA, Mike! I'm not really sure but I'm having the impression that you have another smile from one ear to the other, just like it happened with the Bentley. Yes, the car isn't the best daily driver ever but you can't deny that it's so much fun to drive, even with all of its quirks. Hope you enjoy it during the time you decide to keep it. Great buy, as soon as you brought up the spoiler and said permanent 4wd I thought it was a Mitsubishi Galant VR-4 or 3000gt. Don't know why I didn't think of the Evo. Judging by cars I have seen you review (and owned) I would have thought only the 8 estate would interest you. my personal favourites are the 8, 6, X, 4 and 2 &3.

edit: forgive me I thought the Evo estate was the 8 but it is actually the 9

My all-time favorite Evo is the V...which is also the only one I ever had a chance to take a ride in.
First AWD and first turbocharged car I rode...a hell of an experience!

Just restoring an 8 fq330 atm .. didn’t even know they did an auto. Great to see another one around ! Just have a look on the inside bumper frames, as mine were knackered and if it’s got ayc get it in the boot. Hope you’re enjoying :)

I don't know how to feel about the tiptronic when you can get an Evo X with a highly underrated DCT. The DCT Evo Xs were fast enough on the stock 300hp to keep up with 400hp manual Evo Xs. Still a good buy because it is an Evo so enjoy it while you have it.

I’m looking to buy and daily one, I sold my 370z a couple months ago because I need a car that I can also drive in the snow, I love evo’s and love the raw race car feel so I don’t mind the basic inside I’m just wondering if I will be disappointed I didn’t buy a manual one

I love evos but I don't think I'll ever own one. I met a guy years ago who told me it was cheaper to buy, import and run a mustang than it was to buy and run an evo.

I'd love to be wrong but I was told they're insanely high strung with no tolerance for the incorrect fluids, petrol and they were difficult to find errors with as well.

I find it interesting that evo xs and 7s are the least valuable evos. I saw online you can buy a 55k miles 08 evo x fq330 manual for less than 16k.

Finding an impreza wrx sti of the same miles and year for that money is getting very difficult. Those are known for being difficult to run as well though.

My 97 Camaro V8 gets 30mpg highway but technically it's quoted 14 for city driving but ive never done the math

I think you really want to like the car but it might need a minute to settle in. It seems like you expected it to drive like a newer car but you realize it doesn’t. That thing was purpose built to haul ass :D Its not got any comfy amenities or reasonable gas mileage. That being said it’s got tons of character and it’s almost cooler because it’s an auto evo. 7s look the best too
