Yes, unfortunately this review is 100 percent correct. As someone who lived in NC for a decade, moved to the DMV and then went to Ben's Chilli Bowl, I felt the same way. Couldn't finish the half smoke with chilli. Big ups to Chime Time hopefully you visit Jerry's and get the crab bomb before leaving the DMV.

This is why I love this guy and respect his unbiased opinion! I'm a native Washingtonian and Ben's is way overrated. Historical landmark, but the food, not so good.

I agree with him. I am a native Washingtonian born and raised. I have eaten at "Ben's" approximately 2 or 3 times.Each time was more disappointing than the last. The chili is horrible and they sell it at Giant.

i knew he was gonna go in Bens. The quality of Bens is gone way down. I'm in my 40's so im old enough to remember when it was decent but the chili never was the go to there. The breakfast is where it is at. Bens is famous cause of its significance to the civil rights movement. It used to feed everyone famous. MLK to Obama. I dont know who says this is the best chili.

Ben’s Chili’s bowl was one of my biggest disappointments 😱. As a man once told me, I’ve been there twice. My 1st time & my last time!🤣

I've been here for almost 28 yrs and never had one...because the half smokes are always the talk. No pork. But that was a he'll of and honest review because THAT is the first time I've heard ANYONE speak poorly about Ben's Chilli Bowl. I see Mr. Chime Time does recognize the location having significance..especially historical significance. Ty

As a person who recently moved out of the DMV area, I miss Ben's and the whole vibe of the U Street Corridor so much. I've never had their chilli because I make my own. But the half smokes and the pink cake (strawberry) are soooo good!!!
