I sure most people listening to this are too young to remember, the The Cisco Kid was a TV show on from 1949- 1956 Poncho was his sidekick. Thank God, being 77 was finally useful for something.

We did had the best music in the 70’s didn’t we. Thank GOD I had my teenage years in that decade.

This underrated group was co founded by Animals lead singer Eric Burdon, and was originally called Eric Burdon and War.
Your next War reaction must be "Spill The Wine", an incredible duet with Burdon.
Other great hits of theirs include:
"Summertime", "The World Is A Ghetto", "Low Rider", "Why Can't We Be Friends", "Slippin' Into Darkness".

The Cisco Kid and his sidekick Poncho were big TV stars of Western lore back in the 50s. A Hispanic answer to the Lone Ranger and Tonto. Yes, I use to watch it! This song is based on their adventures!

The 10+minute version of "The World is a Ghetto " is a must. The sax solo will melt your brains!!!!

There are so many War songs to check out: spill the win (with Eric Burdon), slipping into darkness, why can’t we be friends, all day music, the world is a ghetto, summer, good, good feeling (when they went disco)

The World is a Ghetto is not only on the cover; it is also a song on the album.

I was a kid who grew up watching the old black & white tv shows (way before cable tv) like The Lone Ranger and The Cisco Kid.
I like The Lone Ranger, especially Tonto (I'm Native American and Tonto was a good role model compared to how we were portrayed for a long time), but Cisco & Pancho were my favorites.

Cisco Kid and Poncho were characters from a 1950's western show "The Cisco Kid." I remember watching the reruns in the late 60's. Some of War's other great songs were "Spill the Wine", "'Why Can't We Be Friends", and my favorite "Low Rider."

If you haven't already checked it out, try the "Low Rider" song. It has a very interesting opening. Drummer Harold Brown said the song was supposed to open on the downbeat. But he mistakenly opened the song on the upbeat. The band adjusted and they continued to record. The song became a hit despite beginning the wrong way. Great reactions and thanks!

This has got to give you an appreciation for the absolutely wonderful and eclectic mix of music we were privileged to experience first-hand back in the 60's, 70's and 80's.

This brings back FUN memories. I was around 11 or 12 when this came out and my parents had started letting me walk through a field right next to our house, cross a busy road and walk into an apartment complex because they had a video arcade there. I spent a lot of time there playing pinball and this was always in circulation on the jukebox. I am going on 64 years old (can you believe this song is so old), but I LOVE it. Take care kids.. sorry you all were sick and hope the family is on the mend.

The percussion War used was unmatched. Their lyrics were always simple and straightforward, the subject matter easy to understand, but the presentation was top notch. This band can be summed up in one word-COOL.

Being a 76 year old boomer we grew up with the Cisco Kid on television along with Roy Rogers, the Lone Ranger, Gene Autry, Johnny Uma the Rebel, Gunsmoke, Hopalong Casidy, Davy Crocket, Danniel Boon and all the rest. I thought for years that a movie of the Cisco Kid should have been done but never happened and then 'Barbarosa' came out with Willy Nelson and by gum that filled the gap rather nicely. Great western movie that hits on all eight and to me my favourite Willy Nelson movie.
