The Argentinians were not prepared for the dreadful weather conditions. The British had trained in Wales.

The majority of the British army are from muddy cold backwaters so this is pretty much perfect terrain for them

Trying to fight the British in a bog? Such hubris

Cold, wet and miserable? The British have been training for that since they left the womb

Theres an irony of a military Junta being surprisingly incompetent in this war.

Argentine here. I was in 4th grade at the time. I remember the department of education handing out what teachers were supposed to say to kids. The British will not come…it’s too far for them. They can’t get here. I would love to have my teacher and whoever wrote that, knowing what I know today….Miss…the British have pretty much conquered the entire world with their navy for the last 200 years. Such an useless war. Only for political gain.

Chilè actually helped the UK with logistics. Not many people know this.

The argintine air force was against the invasion for a number of reasons; one key factor was they were sure they would end up holding the bag. Because of the opposition they were excluded from planning.

They would go on to be proven right.

Millions of people throughout Argentina sent supplies and goods to relieve the troops' suffering but the military junta decided against it. It was a senseless war carried out by our corrupt and greedy politicians. (I'm Argentinian btw)

The british army can deal with mud and rain and ocean storms better than anyone in the world. The British isles are in the worst part because they are between the north sea and the Atlantic ocean so the storms there are incomparable to any other part of the world. It's a very unique type of storm and weather that no other country has.

Proud that my dad my old man is a falkland island and Northern Ireland RMP veteran, based out of tidworth barracks I think! He also went to Afghanistan from 01- late 03 as a RMP advisor he later fully retired from the army in October 03
I didn’t follow the same path as him but makes you damn proud!

As an argentine this was one of the stupidest conflicts we got involved with. We were totally unprepared and underfunded. It only happened cause galtieri wanted to score some points to stay in power a bit longer.
Btw we have the same weather conditions in the patagonia which is right next to malvinas/falklands. Argentina is not a tropical country only the north is subtropical were most conscripts were drafted from.
