Y'know, I watched the whole video with my dad yesterday, and he said, "The only people that won't like it are people that compare her to Chester. Linkin Park wasn't Chester. Linkin Park was the whole team, and Chester was just a really big part of it." And that's a really good point. 🩷

This song fits her voice so well. Emily is amazing, and we are all lucky to have her and the rest of the guys in the band right now. Trying to compare her with Chester is disrespectful. He won't be replaced, he can't be replaced, and nobody in the band is trying to do so. "The hardest part of ending is starting again"... If the band could find the strength within themselves to start again, we should all do the same. Emily Armstrong starts a new beginning for LP without sacrificing the essence of the band. That doesn't erase the past; it just adds to the future of the band.

I cried the whole stream. There wasn't a thing for a long long time that made me THIS happy. Absolutely incredible. Just now I realize something is mending in me that I did not know was that broken. I’m sitting in the parking lot of a grocery store crying while listening to this on repeat. I’m definitely going to get some stares walking into the store with a red face, and my husband is probably going to wonder why I took twice as long to run errands today, but I’ve never felt so devastated yet so joyful and emotional while listening to something. The original has always been one of the only songs I know that can make me break down after just the first note, given the history behind Linkin Park and my own history with their music, but this performance is making me feel emotions I didn’t know existed till now. I love this so much. ❤

Whoever decided to bring in a female vocalist is an absolute genius! Imagine having a male vocalist – he’d constantly be compared, note by note, and criticized for either not doing justice to the role or for copying Chester if he nailed it. Having a female vocalist gives that sense of freedom, almost like an unspoken understanding that she wouldn’t sound the same as Chester, and that’s okay! But she’s absolutely killing it 🔥🔥🔥 – you can tell she really understands the emotions behind both the screams and the melody in the songs.

I think she sounds absolutely great. Obviously I’m sad that Chester isn’t here, but I think she’s doing a great job. Imagine the pressure she’s under.
