Did Russia send captured NATO weapons to Iran?

Weapons always get captured in war, but that doesn't necessarily mean that the adversary can reproduce them. And even if the adversary does reproduce them, it doesn't mean that the adversary can reproduce them at scale to make a difference in a conflict.

1990s sent them to advanced Iran to figure them out. Soon, 2055, they'll have a worse version ready to go.

The idea for these material transfers isn't just copying the equipment, it's also developing countermeasures through ;)

Your commentary is ALWAYS excellent. Thanks from the UK.

Exactly. Russia themselves would have trouble manufacturing these weapons in large numbers, much less Iran.

The Revolver was invented in 1831, but that doesnt make it any less menacing, even if it can't keep up with a glock. Its all about perspective.

Old doesn't necessarily mean obsolete or useless. Stingers and Javelins are still lethal.

Again, the Allies winning the war of production

There's also a couple if tricks up our sleeve:
When Iran had it's rebellion in 1979, it acquired a fleet of F-14 Tomcats. The United States destroyed all of their F-14 Tomcats plus any others they could get their hands on. The one's that are in museums can't fly because they are missing critical components.
This makes it extremely difficult for Iran to find replacement parts. As a result it's fleet rarely gets off the ground. The only airshows flying the F-14, are in Iran.
Also, in order to halt Iranian nuclear weapons production, the United States produced a large number of components for nuclear material refinement that were faulty, and saturated the black market with them. So Iran will spend money on a part that doesn't work (no refunds on the black market) and these faulty components will need to be purchased again, only to run into the same problem most likely.
I suspect a combination of these solutions can make Iranian engineers hit wall after wall.
So, you can expect a new ATGM and MANPADS for the US in the next decade, if not sooner.

There is not even a chance for Iran to reverse engineer the NLAW or the Javelins as they are built and assembled in a great number of countries, because they do require a lot of expensive designs, parts and manufacturing process. I used to work for a short period of time building and inspecting the Javelin tracker system and believe you me the Iranians will not be able to build that thing to such a high standard. And anything less than that, well...already exists.

Hmmm production at scale. I know someone in east Asia who does that really well.

Interesting twist on it, Never thought about it that way.

Iran is so technically advanced they've figured out how to make flying mopeds with bombs strapped to them.

Any effective weapon technology you deploy in war you should expect all of your enemies to have an equivalent by the end of the war. If they don't capture yours they still see a really good advertisement of what is effective and develop their own.

I loved the smug sip at the end. "Do I look smug? I feel smug."

Funny that you mention Tesla Elon musk actually has talked about this before with his rockets and other technology he talked about how making one thing is the easy part but mass production and building the factories is the tricky part

Good production and info as always. With a plus of the Chernobyl mug too! Not great, not terrible.
