This is just terrifying to me... As a fulltime artist and a costume maker, who relies off of my own creations for income, I don't know what I would do. I work far too hard to just let AI take it from me. I am disabled and already have to rely on other people to help me on top of this. Imagine feeling already useless in general and then the one thing that you do that makes you feel not as useless is taken from you?

HEJ på dig själv! :) I agree that the public focus on AI progress is mostly in the fun areas that we really don't want to stop doing ourselves. I hope that there is much progress in the background with AI taking over boring and dangerous tasks too.

just how good can a model from a single image be? at some point you're generating so much missing info out of thin air that it loses any kind of consistency. These models also lack any kind of artistic control. Wanna add a specific detail to a part of the mesh? can't do that. But a 3d artist can.

i don't understand why they can make a model with one pic but photogrammerty produces so-so results with 100 pictures. god I would love for AI to put all of these crap 3D scanners out of business.
