How FISH REACT to NIGHTCRAWLERS UNDERWATER! (Surprising)

This are the clearest shots I have ever got of fish! We dropped our camera in a highly pressured warm water discharge that feeds into the Potomac river.

We saw bass, bluegill, catfish, and even some tilapia down there! The fish were fairly finicky, and did not seem to interested in the worm, but we still got some amazing footage.

As a reminder we were fishing very cold winter conditions, so I am eager to see how fish react come the summer time.

This underwater camera is amazing and so versatile. I cannot wait to use it again! There is a link down below to the camera if you all wanna check it out!

Seeing how much a bass goes "Hmmmm I don't like the look of it", is incredible

Panfish, especially Bluegill are the most underrated fish. They make good eating, the are sporty and pretty fish.

This is PROOF that presentation matters. When you hook a nightcrawler, it is advised, to NEVER poke a hole through it numerous times in a big clump. It's a bad and lazy way to hook a worm. You want the worm to be as slender (most natural looking) as possible and a little tail at the end. Yes, you will be literally wrestling with your worm but it matters. Also, for note, if you want those bluegill you need to float your worm or use a floater to bring your worm higher and closer to the surface.

8:51 😂Now after many many years I see why the bluegill bite is always rapid TAP Tap TAP Tap TAP Tap TAP Tap TAP It’s them shaking their head furiously with part of the bait in their mouth. I had always imagined bite bite bite … and not shake shake shake. Cool!!! Thanks!!!!

When worm fishing for bass (plastic worms) I catch most of my fish with it just laying motionless for long periods. Every once in a while, I'll give it a slight twitch and any bass that is looking at it will nail it right then! I learned this while fishing for in a spring fed pond that was ultra clear. On windless days I could see every move the fish made and how they reacted to my baits and presentations!

After watching this it is interesting to see how smart these fish are they were very aware of the suspicious bait.

Pretty decent size bluegill. Can’t believe the amount and range of fish. Those black bass are gorgeous.

Good video, shows how hard it is to catch the fish even when you know where they are

This video packs so much knowledge on how these fish react and what’s needed to get the job done. Great video !

Some of the sunfish color patterns look great in that clear water. Gives me ideas for paint patterns on lures

“Hey look at me! Is this thing on? Next time put some sauce on the worm. But anyway thanks for the worm bye” the fish looking into the camera eating had me crying laughing

Wow! This is so cool! I can't believe these fish were so active on a high pressure clear blue sky sunny day. Usually that turns fish off and then become lethargic and bury in the weeds. But that would explain why they weren't feeding, but the warm water may have kept them active if it was cold out . I can't believe there's invasive species like tilapia as well in the Potomac River! You should try injecting the worm with air using a needle and syringe. There's videos on how to do it and the worm would float up or put a floating jig head that might have helped

I break the nightcrawler in half too but I put the pinched end on the top and let the part that wiggles on the bottom. I also use a bobber and a small split shot. Been doing it since I was a kid. I catch perch that same way. Wait until the bobber starts moving and then I set the hook. Boom! Fish on! I’m from Washington state and most of the lakes around here are brown but that’s what always works for me. Never missed a fish and it doesn’t take long at all.

That is so awesome that your local lake actually has fish

I know this has been up for a while, and I second some of the suggestions about presentation of the worm to the fish. If the worm would actually be slightly hanging in the water column it would be more attractive to the bass as they are predatory and are less like to eat from the bottom. Use a bobber, measure the depth with a heavy weight so that the bobber is positioned slightly under the surface. This ensures presentation an inch above the bottom.

Love the camera even if the fish didn't bite. So interesting. I love catching panfish.
